Who has done a Maine summer vacation? Where did you stay? What did you do? How was it?

Flew into Boston, rented a car and drove to Bar and Bass Harbor areas. Spent a great week around the 4th of July there. This was a few years ago but I recall the prices were so much less than FL, people nice, lobster rolls incredible.

Needed polar fleece most nights, which was great!

A few summers ago went for a week family vacation in late June if I recall. Spent all of our time on Mount Desert Island (Bar Harbor area). Rented a house on the water thru VRBO. Very reasonably priced. We hiked many of the MDI trails, fished the freshwater lakes, canoe(included with rental house) fished saltwater bay rental overlooked & caught mackerel, went on a kayak tour, scheduled a shark fishing charter but didn't happen due to winds, my 2 20's daughters spent a day guided rock climbing/rappelling, and ate crazy cheap lobster till it oozed out our pores. Like mentioned, the weather was a pleasant escape from the heat. Jacket required every morning & evening.

Great family vacation!

I'm heading up in two weeks on motorcycle with a group and sleeping in tents. I've been to Bar Harbor before and did the kayaks and whale watching. Cadillac mountain and eat lobster!

Went in late June last year. Stayed in Stockington Springs area, rented house via VRBO. Had a great time. Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mt are excellent. Going back next year. Great place to vacation.

Spent 8 days on Mt. Desert Island back in 12’. Truly a spectacular national treasure for a family getaway. Somes Sound, Bar Harbor Cadillac Mt.,hiking, Sand beach that natural gas bus system second to none in any national park will take you anywhere on the island.

Will be going back for a longer stay since there is so much to see and do.

Now that you mention it you're right.

Funny story, I was there with my wife when she was pregnant with our first born daughter, now 23, although we didn't know she was pregnant at the time yet. We rented a tandem bike and are riding all around Cadillac Mt area.

Well, on one long particular incline I'm busting hump pedaling that bike, knowing I'd have to make up for my wife's feeble attempt at helping to pedal; she's a girly girl. So anyway, as cars are going by they are staring at me.

At first I thought nothing of it because, well, I'm sure we were a sight. But then I noticed people were smiling and some laughing at us. It wasn't until one particular car went by and I see someone in it pointing to use and everyone looking and laughing.

So finally, I break my dogged determination at ascending the hill and turn around to see what's so phukin' funny. Well to my chagrin but not my surprise my bride is leaning back on the bike, holding on to he handle bars and feet up on the frame, just chillin'. Didn't even try feigning pedaling, sigh...
