Default Goodbye to Monty

My Airedale, Monty, was 8 years old and was healthy as a horse all his life. Last Thursday he did not eat, and was lethargic. He ate a couple raw eggs Friday morning and eggs and a ham slice Friday evening. I was hopeful Saturday morning but he was worse. I called the home visit vet at 9, but he laid down and died in his sleep by 11:30 am.

It rips your heart out to lose a pet. He always had a great attitude and was a serious watchdog. Smart as could be, and a great pup. I would tell him to get in the tub for a bath and he would slowly slink to the bathroom with a despondent look on his face and climb in. He was a real character. I sorely miss him.

Very sorry for your loss. Dread the moment when I am inevitably in your shoes with either of my dogs.

Sucks when something so loyal is suddenly gone.

I used to take him with me to the Winn-Dixie, and tell him to sit and STAY at the soda machines outside by the doors. I would go in and shop, then walk past him to my truck, not even looking at him. He would watch me with a worried look on his face, but would still STAY!

After I unloaded my groceries I would check traffic and then yell Come Monty. He'd burst over like a rocket, insanely happy that I did not forget him! What a riot!

So sorry for the loss of your friend. I truly understand what you are going through and is the reason why I cannot bring myself to own another dog. It's because of THIS day we all have to face at sometime, and the vacancy left is too much to fill. I have done it several times, I cannot go through it again. Better to deny myself the years of enjoyment than to face the day that ultimatly will come. AGain, I am so sorry.

Condolences. I like most dogs better than most people and have been in your shoes. But the pain you feel now should not be a good enough reason to not get another dog (or two) one day in the future.

Best wishes.

Airedog,

Just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss.

I like to think that one day we'll all get to see all our furry friends again.

Bless up to you and may Monty rest easy.
