Smile Looking for a good everyday carry knife

My current everyday is starting to reach the end of its life after about 6 years of abuse and multiple sharpenings I can't get it to hold a great edge anymore.

This is what I carry now

http://www.leatherman.com/crater-c33lx-52.html#start=4

What do you guys recommend?

It must be partially serrated. I love the bottle opener feature mine has now so that is preferred.

Looking to spend around $50

I have been carrying a spyderco for a long time. Might be tough to stay in the $50 range but not much more will get you a nice knife.

Yup those are pricey. Too much money for something that will get covered in salt water, run through the washer, possibly dropped overboard, or left in my pocket at the airport. I can stomach a $50+/- uh oh but $300+ will ruin my day.

Edit: Scratch that....Amazon has some decent spydercos for my price range

No bottle opener but the Benchmade Mini Griptilian is one heck of a knife for not a lot more.

I really like this knife (can be had a little cheaper) holds a nice edge and quick to get out when needed.

I carry this one at work and it is very sturdy (doesn't seem to hold as good of an edge) I like it too..

X2 spend the extra thirty bucks and get yourself a quality mini grip.. You wont be dissapointed.

I just looked at that link. I really like the sheepsfoot blade better it has the thumbhole instead of the knob for opening...

the Kershaw Shuffle isn't a bad option, except no serrations. It's stupid cheap and comes in tons of colors. You could buy black, lime green, pink, and blue for your 50$ budgets.

see? isn't it cute?

the spyderco Salt might be a good option, even though it's a bit more money. Great for saltwater, serrated, excellent quality and company, lightweight...on sale at BladeHQ for $82.

But really, there are hundreds and hundreds of awesome knives for $50 and under. Kershaw, CRKT, Schrade, Spyderco, Benchmade, ESEE, Ontario, etc etc etc....

Maybe check out the CRKT M-16. It comes in a bunch of different sizes, different blade shapes, some serrated, and is cheap. I have the M-1601KZ. Was my first "real knife" ever.

here's a link with a bunch of those --

I saw that one but the blade is a little small.

Anyone try this one?

One of things this site did for me was introduce me to the idea of carrying a knife at all times. There was a deal on Kershaw knives that someone posted...so I bought a few of them.

I love them. They are tiny little pieces of handy magic.

Just today for example I've used it a ton of times.

I agree I use mine everyday multiple times. Fedex and UPS, end of the day beer. I even filleted a fish once in a pinch. It makes me sad that it's time to go into a drawer but I just picked up my new glock 43 and I feel like I need a new knife to go with it.

2.6 inches is what your blade is now. The shuffle is 2.25. Not a major difference, but yes it is smaller.

That knife you posted isn't bad. I prefer my knives to be just that -- knives. I carry a leatherman wingman (at work) on my belt for everything else.

Outside of work, just a knife.

My rotation...
Kershaw Leek
CRKT M-1601KZ
CRKT Ripple
ESEE Zancudo
Benchmade Mini-griptillian
Benchmade Aphid

Love that kind of thinking!

That's perpetual motion right there Leeroy.

Surely you need a new holster for the gun n'est-ce pas?

I've thought about it but I want something just a touch nicer. The whole reason I got my leatherman was I purchased a Gerber the day before and accidentally lost it. I was in college at the time and on a tight budget so I picked this up because it was cheap. No regrets.

I have a Leek. there is a website where you can get Kershaw blemished knives cheap. I couldn't tell what the blemish was on mine. There was a small scratch on the blade. not sure if that was the reason.

I sit at home and work off a laptop I'm more a one tool for the job type person. I wish more knifes had that little caribeaner (sp) mine has. It's perfect for a bottle opener and takes up no space. Honestly I'm going to put this evil on you, between your watches and knives you post on your instagram, I have a new watch coming tomorrow and next is the knife.

Nah I'm going to just tuck it in the front of my pants like Plaxico.

That is also on the list
