Default Hey watch guys...

So my cousin owns a watch store and he runs what appear to be some pretty sick deals on a daily basis. Usually its just one watch he's got in stock, and you've got 24h to buy it. I know nothing about watches, but the prices seem pretty good as compared to retail. He does these through FB and Instagram (probably twitter too, but I'm not on it).

If you have any interest, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the info. Some examples are below.

Ball Engineer Master II Diver is today's deal of the day! 42mm, stainless steel case and bracelet, black dial with green and black inner rotating bezel. Retails for $2399, on sale for today only at $1500

Edox Chronorally Chronograph, 45mm, stainless steel black PVD case with a red chronograph pusher. Retails for $2050, on sale today only for 35% off at $1332.50

Hamilton Khaki Pilot GMT Automatic. It's 44mm, with a black dial, a red GMT hand, black bezel, a stainless steel bracelet, and an exhibition case back. Retails for $1395, on sale 45% off today only for $767.25!

Claude Meylan big date chrono on grey leather band. In stock at $2950. $700 sale price til end of day. Buy it before I change my mind.

Why does he post the retail prices? What's that got to do with what the value is today?

Probably because they are new?

Some of those "retail" prices are way off from what the watch can be had at "regular" prices.

Still, seem like a decent deal. I can't wear the larger dial watches due to my scrawny arms.

Nope, which is why I don't shop there. He did have a sick Homer Simpson clock though.

I don't get it. You came here posting about prices and what your cuz was offering...and you made it sound like it was some suhweet and crazy deals. I merely pointed out the obvious fact that they aren't all that suhweet and crazy....

And add to the fact that you had a little rant about people posting "retail" prices, albeit on used items...and then you did the same thing here posting rainbows and unicorns retail prices that do not reflect what these watches can be had for in many, many places.

lol?

Yes, you clearly don't get it. I very succinctly explained that I know nothing about watches and that the prices "seemed" pretty good as compared to retail. Note that I did not say "pretty good as compared to what you can get them for elsewhere" or "pretty good as compared to what someone who knows watches would think is a good price".

Perhaps you missed that part. Perhaps you didn't and you'd like to earn some "Let's troll Ronn" points.

In either case, learn to read more effectively.

And you are correct. Because I had a rant about private sellers listing retail prices for their used items, clearly I must believe that retail environments should not post retail prices. Excellent logic.

Full disclosure, I didn't post the info in the thread because I didn't want it to seem like I was advertising his business, which is not my intent. There are several watch threads going on so I figured if these really were good deals, some members here may be interested.

OK, Ronn...

You compared the prices to "retail." Awesome job, buddy. Nobody is "trolling" you...just pointing out how absurd this post is compared to your other post about "retail" prices being posted.

When have you ever paid MSRP for something?

Actually, all I did was post the last 4 or so watches he offered and their prices. I didn't post his store, his FB, his website, or anything about his company. The information I posted was done so in order for the "watch guys" to use as a barometer to see if they had interest. If they did (as some have), they could PM me and I'd happily share the info to them.

I never said they were good prices. In fact, I said the opposite. Now, if they ARE good prices, and some watch guy understands that, he may want to avail himself of future deals he offers. If they aren't good prices, then the "watch guy" simply doesn't PM me to get the info. Pretty simple really.

Unless its you. You troll the thread.

As for the "absurdity" of my other thread. You are comparing the fact that I see no point in listing retail prices for unused goods on a private sale of used goods, with a retail environment listing a retail price for a new item. Again, excellent logic.

OK, Ronn...You made an observation and I made one. Maybe I should start posting "Retail" prices with all my items to sell...might just be a good marketing gimmick. Now, what were you saying about posting retail prices in that other thread?

It's the internet...I'm here to kill time...and to stop some people from falling for the old "retail price" trick

Seriously, though, his prices are not bad. I'm just pointing out something I observed.
