Default what am I missing? golf cart vs John Deere Gator cart.

Have the luck to live in a very quiet cool neighborhood, where there are kids from multiple ages that all play together and have fun... there is only one street no exit ( like 2 or 3 blocks long) so traffic is minimal... if you are driving on that street, either you live there or you are very lost.
Well the thing is kids are growing and a couple of our neighbors got their kids a golf cart.
It seems to be a really nice to have one so I was looking into getting one...

I just went by something like this on craigslist and I was wondering what you guys with experience in these things think of... pros? cons? vs a regular battery powered golf cart?

it may seem more money but it is also more practical right?

opinions please....

that's gotta be a scam. If it's not I'd advise you to go get it now.

Base price for a new one is $12k! No way a 3 year old model would sell for $2250 that runs great. Smells fishy.

X2. At that price, it was either sunk in a pond, stolen, or the ad is a scam.

damn... I have not been around craigslist for a while now, but you guys just refreshed my memory...

Did not know these things were that expensive (12k)... it has to be scam...
I now remember going through the same like 5 years ago when I was looking for zero turn.... I looked for so long that I could tell right away which ones were the scams....

sorry for the inconvenience....

I would get a golf cart. Engines are loud and require maintence. Golf cart is quite. I've got both a rough n tuff and a rzr4. Rzr is for the woods. For sure a scam though.

May not be a scam, they may have just posted the wrong price. Forgot a 1 as in $12,510.

Depending on options and hours/mileage $12,500 is about right.

It may be, but it does not tend to be the norm in CL for what I'm remembering.... specially when there is no location, no contact info, etc....

most likely, stolen picture from somewhere else on the net....

check out the Gator EX, I'm looking into replacing my golf cart. I got pricing today from JD on the Gator Ex " electric " and Tx "gas model" I'm leaning toward JD on my next one. For a turf Gator your only looking at 2 grand more for something built to work VS a golf cart that will be wore out in a few years.

Great price on the Gator but here is the deal on Golf carts gas powered or electric. A Golf cart is governed at 16 mph and to be operated on the street in most states they must have turn signals, brake and head lights, a horn and a low speed vehicle triangle sign on the back. The ATV's while more fun than a golf cart do not meet that criteria.

Not entirely true. LSV(low speed vehicles) can go 20 mph but not over 25 mph. Some states allow gas/diesel vehicles, while others limit them to electric.

In the case of a 625i gator, John Deere makes a keyed switch that limits the 625i to 20 mph, install the key and the gator is restored to full speed.

I've been looking at Gators and hope to take a 240 mile round trip, this summer.

415 is California. Problem with cell phones, area codes no longer indicate location, the way they once did.

I'm not saying it is or isn't a scam. It will be interesting to hear the results.

I know...I tend to believe in people at first too...

just for comparison... here is another one that seems more in line with the price...
I know nothing about the engines on these things so i will probably end up buying a problem..
