There's been talk on many forums about drones. From the gov. spying on us. To people spying on their neighbors when they are sunbathing. Also people rigging them to drop baits farther out then they can cast.

I'm fine with it, so long as I am in a public place (no expectation of privacy). Maybe it will save some of my tax dollars if FWC can use these and cut down on the half million dollar boats they need to buy.

IMO I call BS. Are they going to write a ticket because a fish you pulled up died when you released it? Possible but I doubt it. Certainly not impossible although I'm skeptical that drones are doing that at this point when they cannot even cover our borders.

I had a friend get a ticket for filleting a red snapper on his boat in the Dry Tortugas. They had drone pictures of it and were waiting for him at the dock.

Now that's different he was filleting a red snapper out of season? He's lucky he just got a ticket. I could see a drone around the DT.

Sounds like BS to me. Don't the operators of the drone have to have a visual on it to control it ? Hours and hours of operating it so maybe someone catches an illegal fish. Unless somebody has had it happen to them personally, I call BS.

It is not BS. Same thing is happening in NJ. Flounder poaching in closed season. Waiting at the dock. Also used on DE bay to monitor commercial oyster men.

I'm not arguing, but did it happen to you or did you hear about it.

While I agree it does sound like BS, you don't have to have visual to fly the quad copters.

The nice ones have a 2+ mile range, and your basically flying it while sitting at a computer, or using goggles with a visual display. using the camera to see where its going.
I think they can even just do a gps flight plan.

they have youtube video's of guys flying out of their driveway, going up above the cloud level. its pretty crazy.

How did they know the fish died? Did it testify? Maybe the fish just felt sad and bloated?

The gubmint spent how many millions on this project to catch a few fishermen, what about the droves of illegals coming over the border or the islamic radical terrorists?
