I also wouldn't want what you propose, allowing anyone to carry and buy anything (not to derail). I am happy that not everyone can.

If it really irked me, I could just move to a state that was less restrictive, but it's a balance, as is most things.
This is the whole problem you have been drinking the kool aid, that well if it's for the greater good I don't mind giving up my rights...

I suppose in a "real" police state you don't go online and say the police state sucks.

If Nazi Germany had the internet and you lived there then I would say yes.

You would get to meet Himmler or his cronies mighty quick.

Anyone good at math ?

How many years before everyone is in jail if this graph continues on the same general path ?

Even though I think the trend is to make everywhere outside like a jail too.

But george Orwell never saw youtube and the power of that. But still.

I would say you have never been to London if you think there are a lot of cameras here.

That can never be guarenteed.

-Travel without facing suspicion of criminal acts for the mere fact that I am in fact travelling
- If there was an airline that let people travel like you want to, they'd go out of business because no one would take them.

-Conduct routine personal activities without being recorded or documented -
Bad idea because personal activities can turn into breaking the law, i.e. robbing, slaughtering innocent folks, abuse, etc.
-Nor should it be openly rejected, on a consistent basis, and defended on the basis of "well.......he felt threatened.....somehow...."

-They wouldn't go out of business. People are tired of this crap, and travel has only gotten more popular as the most Draconian of these policies has fallen down.

-The Constitution guarantees us a right to privacy, and scrutiny only when there is probable cause that such activities are going on.

The law clearly states that a private agency may not perform law enforcement.

I don't care what his signature says. He was being an ass toward me for a very petty reason, and I responded in kind. Any human being (because we are all just human beings) will receive the same treatment. You get what you give in this world, period.

Dunno who you are referring to, but I'm an original. There's a lot of supremely good info on this site, and I am always looking to absorb new information for my profession. The rest of this is just a bonus for when I need a break while conducting research for projects current and upcoming. I've never been shrinking violet, so I do give my piece with very little filtering.

...in florida, so far. Fair enough. But if the third party were removed from the equation and the program was run by law enforcement where all images were sent directly to and reviewed by that agency, it would then be legal, no? Which would bring us right back to what I thought people were so upset about --- too many cameras watching us. The third party argument was only just now introduced by you as evidence for why cameras indicate a police state. Doesn't seem like a stretch, to me, for a large budgeted law enforcement agency to take over entire control of the red light camera program. It seems they got caught by a relatively easily fixable technicality.

So, are we ultimately upset that we have too many cameras watching us break laws or that a third party is the one revieweing and disseminating the results?

Will this trend ever reverse or level off ?
It won't stop until the next revolution starts.

Yes round two is on the near horizon. I'm guess it will begin as soon as martial law is declared. When this happens guess what???? The current sitting president stays in office. Sadly all of the writing is on the wall for this to happen. No tin foil hat here, just seeing with both eyes open as to what is going on.
