I suggest stop interacting with the police so much and that will reduce your chances of these bad things potentially happening.

They "check papers" or ask you for your fishing license or are you considering them one in the same?

Some might argue that we as a nation have been irresponsible enough with our freedoms and thus have caused a continuous shortening of the leash. Remember grade school when the whole class would get punished even though it may have been only a few who misbehaved?

There's as many ways to try to explain the ills of our country as there are people who live within our borders, but unfortunately there's no single "right" answer.

I'm beginning the countdown to the Bilge now

Will this trend ever reverse or level off ?

Yep, but I am also OK with more CCTV as it is a big help catching criminals.

Though I still can't believe in his day and age the pics from those cams are almost always so crappy.

And this from your favored liberal media "news" :http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/03/opinion/beale-1984-now/

There are those who say that if you don't have anything to hide, you have nothing to be afraid of. But the fact is, when a government agency can monitor everyone's phone calls, we have all become suspects. This is one of the most frightening aspects of our modern society. And even more frightening is the fact that we have gone so far down the road, there is probably no turning back. Unless you spend your life in a wilderness cabin, totally off the grid, there is simply no way the government won't have information about you stored away somewhere.

What this means, unfortunately, is that we are all Winston Smith. And Big Brother is the modern surveillance state.

Too funny, as I was thinking of my posts and was questioning whether I was already there.

The frog may jump.

The protests last year got pretty intense , I think when the weather warms up and the next Eric garner hits it's happening again. The next Eric Garner is happening again. A few people will be killed on camera before summer.

The whole idea of blaming police is misdirected cause it's the people telling them what to do who are the problem but that's what we have I guess.

That's the right answer and I agree.

However, many people really don't have a problem when stopped by cops and appreciate what the police do most of the time so I doubt much will change.

I get stopped, I'm a yes sir, no sir, hands are on the steering wheel, letting the cop know everything I am going to do/reach for before I do kind of a guy.

I hear you but...

Know that justice will be served on a citizen who openly slaughters an innocent without provocation -
That can never be guarenteed.

-Travel without facing suspicion of criminal acts for the mere fact that I am in fact travelling
- If there was an airline that let people travel like you want to, they'd go out of business because no one would take them.

-Conduct routine personal activities without being recorded or documented -
Bad idea because personal activities can turn into breaking the law, i.e. robbing, slaughtering innocent folks, abuse, etc.

Look at the attitudes , so many people have been screwed over by the state and know.

I can't stand people who get those red light tickets and say "it is what it is" and mail a check.

Really you were just robbed and "it is what it is" ? WTF !

Don't get so angry or befuddled that you can't make a point, other than what your feeble ramblings attempted above.

Poor ol' yella'

Everyone desires liberty for themselves, and despise it for people they don't like.

I'll admit it here and now, I never got a ticket I didn't deserve and I've also broken the law a million times more and never got a ticket.

That includes speeding, red light cameras when I knew I was trying to beat a light, etc.

I even got a driving in a carpool, speeding and crossing the double yellow line all in one ticket (my trifecta), and you know what, deserved it and it was all pretty reckless.

I've also gotten breaks from cops too, when they didn't have to give me breaks.

OK gentlemen, ya'll have a safe Friday eve.

I have to brave the cold NYC and try to enjoy the night without running into NY's finest in one of the worst police/nanny states we have.

Be safe.

"Deserve"

Does that mean you were driving unsafe or maybe going over 65 on a wide open highway in a modern car ?
