Why do some DBs blackout their lights? Is it cool in parts or is it a wannabe ghetto look?

Do you mean blackout as when hot girls use liners in their bikini tops so their brights aren't on? In that case I hate that.

Never saw "liners" but have seen masking tape being used!

I do not get it either, just like blacking out your taillights, but it is a lot less annoying than people who put HIDs in reflector housing and blind everyone or high watt blue bulbs in their low beams.

Everybody has a difference in opinion. I like the murdered out look on some vehicles. One of the best looking vehicles was a Porsche cayman and everything was black including lug nuts. Not saying I would ever do it. I like the way the all black midnight express boats look also. Just my .02

Similar to putting the tinted plastic cover over your license plate, let's give the cops a reason to pull us over... Brilliant!

Wife and I were just talking about people with tinted tail lights... Yeah... because in the land of "can't drive for sheet" -- you really think you should making it harder to tell people behind you that you're stopping? Really?

Not a fan of tinting lights since you know, it's a safety thing that helps you see and be seen. Seen plenty of cars with tails tinted so dark you couldn't see the brake lights in the sun.

It`s the part of not being seen that has my curiosity. WTF are they up to?

My tail lights are blacked out and so is my third brake light o and I have HIDS.

BTW shouldn't this thread be called BLACKED OUT TAIL LIGHTS

If you know how to paint tail lights you can see them just fine compared to a stock tail light the base coat has to be thinned alot with reducer so it will be more transparent.I tinted are old jeep JK lights you couldn't tell the difference I showed them to my buddy who is a cop he said he couldn't tell the difference from stock to tinted.Ones that are really black are hard to see if you just put alittle basecoat on top then clear it comes out fine.

My son and I have VW's and we go to various shows - the 'illest' is not ours!
