Default What have you done to make the world a better place?

With all of the bickering on this website, the self righteous BS, and ridiculous internet bravado, Im curious if any of you have actually done anything to make the world a better place? Some of you have 1,000's of posts in a few years. Ronn B with 12000 posts. I wonder what good wouldve come from him putting that time into something more worthwhile.

And since I'm sure I'll be called out on this I'll go first.

I served 8 years as a Marine, I did 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I believe my time as a scout sniper saved lives and in some small part stopped the spread of terrorists.

Humility prevents me from posting how much I have truly done.

I saved a puppy from certain death by stopping and putting him in my car instead of letting him roam around on a busy street.

I tipped a Chili's waiter $40 one time, when all I ordered was a coke and some chips and salsa, just because I overheard him say the table next to me had stiffed him.

I took in a 9 month old baby and his two year old brother, whom I had never met until the day a friend of ours said they heard about the boys needing a home and thought of us.

I used my peterbilt and a tow strap to pull about 30 people out of the ditch a few weeks ago when west texas got slammed with a nasty ice storm.

I flew overseas for just a two day visit because I heard my good friend over there was depressed.

My goodness, I'm a regular mother Theresa for crying out loud. Why do you people not bow at my feet?

You're new here, huh?

Thanks for your service; I did the same, as you'll find many here did. Long before your time -- Cold War era after Vietnam. So, I helped stopped the spread of communism??

I'd like to think that in some small way, I help change the world for the better each day with a smile, helping people learn new skills, and having raised my kids to become good, responsible adults.

As a sniper you should know putting a target on your back isn't wise.

I don't think length of time as a member and post count has anything to do with whether someone has spent quality time here or wasted it foolishly posting drivel. For instance, I've been here for 6 or 7 years and posted a bit over 5000 posts. I would guess over half of those posts were on the boating forum trying to help members by giving advice based on my 30+ years in the boat building industry.

I gamble... a lot.... so I help the State of NJ and the State of Nevada. I help with schools, roads and other infrastructure....
tats what all the gambling money goes to..... right ?

I also bought a bought a boat... stimulated the local economy by keeping it in a marina, and paying gas at the same marina...
also - I pay for the tech to do an oil service, so I can put food on his table for his family...

:D
