Default Free ice, no catch?!?!

They are going to regret this once it's warm enough to fish. Posting from phone. Hope the attachment works. If not, this liquor store/bar will fill any size cooler with free ice with any purchase.

Obviously, you have never worked in or owned a restaurant. Ice is crazy cheap to make. kind of like the profit on a soda. Stick to Real Estate.

I am aware. However, if I can get 100lbs of ice for $3 I'm in. What does it cost to fill a coffin box with ice if you have to buy it?

The sign says cooler. It really doesn't matter. If you came in my restaurant I would give you the ICE for free. Who cares I am making my money elsewhere not on ICE.

You could buy a mini bottle for probably less than that and get a cooler full of ice.

Yes then you have to carry said cooler out of the store. Once you get over 100 QTS that's not super easy.

They still sell mini bottles in VA? Yes, the company will still make money on a $3 mini bottle.

I used to get free ice @ McDonald's but they quit doing it a few years ago. Does anyone know who offers free ice if you simply ask for it? A guy I fish with on occasion goes to hotels and asks the desk clerk if he can fill his cooler with ice. The desk clerk usually doesn't own the place so they don't care and he claims he has never been told no. My niece works part time for a bar/restaurant so I can get free ice from her but it's not worth driving all the way over to the place for free ice.

Is anyone aware of a common place like a Burger King that will fill up a cooler? Anyone get free ice from a hotel/motel?

Most of the hotels I stay in have "no coolers" signs hanging right on the ice machines.

"any purchase". The sign says it sells domestic beer. A can of Budweiser could be had for 3 bucks or less.

Boy, the internet was kinda rude on a Friday night.

I think everyone recognizes that ice costs nothing to make. And a quart of Mickeys costs nothing to buy.
Guarantee this place gets sick and tired of ice getting slobbered all over their floor, and people dragging their 3million qt Yeti in looking to get it filled for the cost of a double deuce of Bud Ice.
The nuisance factor will far outweigh the minor profits.

Torfed, update us on this promo when it actually gets warm enough to need ice in Rehobeth.

Go in there like a douche with you huge cooler, point at the sign. Maybe get free ice, maybe get told to pack sand....

Come in next week, the sign is gone.

I went camping in August last year and one of the guys said give me your 2 coolers and I will fill them up. He said sonic restaurants will fill them up for free. They filled 4 coolers for him without a question. I couldnt do it without at least buying a burger and a drink.

Whoa is me say it ain't so.

You mean a business might even do something so crazy as a "loss leader" to generate business?

Lol.

Look at it this way, it's like the "first month free" on an apartment complex or storage unit.

Sit down and drink that beer while you get iced up. Does another one sound good now? Does to a lot of people.
