How many times can you tell a guy don't "&^@ing move" or I'll shoot you dead?

If I didn't know better, I'd swear that dumb ass didn't understand English.

Perp black / cop black = nothing for the race-baiters to go after. HOWEVER...cop gave warning after warning after warning, and the dead guy still chose to get out of the car AND he has a prior record and conviction/jail time for shooting at cops, but I don't know if the officer in this situation would have known that.

1 less thug to have to deal with.

Reid, 36, spent about 13 years in prison for shooting at three state troopers when he was a teenager. And Days knew who he was; Days was among the arresting officers last year when Reid was charged with several crimes, including drug possession and obstruction.

An ugly spot on any department but the deceased was no hero either.

They shot the passenger, No? I couldn't see the passengers hands at all. How do you know they were up?

I was encouraged to hear a black news anchor on CBS this morning say that, while there is talk of retraining police officers, sometimes she thinks there is a need to retrain people. The police officer clearly said "Do not move".

I was waiting for this one to come up.

It is baiting season. Time for media to bait the public into a reaction.

While "Cop shoot unarmed man" is a great lure, poor sheeple will be reeled in on half the story. Smart people will find out all the information first. Unfortunately, these days stories like this call for a snap reaction.

I was reading about this early this morning and could do nothing but shake my head.

Let's see -- 1) "don't move. Let me see your hands!" Driver immediately raises hands. Passenger does not.

2) "don't move! DO NOT MOVE OR YOU WILL GET SHOT!"
3) gun already found in the vehicle
4) officer knows the history of passenger, perhaps even remembers the passenger served time for shooting at officers
5) "don't move!" The passenger moves out of the vehicle.
6) he gets shot because he moved.
7) civil liberties guy says passenger was innocent and "complied with the officer".
8) you've gotta be Effin' kidding me here. The cop said don't move. He moved. Case closed.

I watched the video several times. So far the media has made it out to be that the passenger did what the officer told him to do and was shot. After watching the video over and over, it is clear that the officer said, repeatedly, do not move, do not reach, no you're not getting out of the car. The passenger pushed the door open against the officer's orders and pushed his way out of the car. Seems like a good shoot to me if there was a legitimate threat?

The only thing I thought odd in the video is that they stopped the vehicle for going through that stop sign. The rolling stop is almost imperceptible on the video.

Of course, it probably all could have been avoided if the first thing they said, before opening the glove box was, "hey, officer, got a gun in here just so you know. It's in the glovebox with my license and registration, do you mind if I reach in there?"

Hardly seems to be a "hands up, don't shoot" situation like they are reporting in the media.

Ahhh the Sheeple! There are always 3 sides/versions of the same story but you know as well as I do, that most will flock to the first and easiest scrap out there.
I have always preached to Boy 1 & 2; "Take care of the little details and you will not have to deal with the large issues often". It relates out to just follow through. process it ALL.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Maybe the whole go to class, pay attention in class, reading comprehension stuff is pretty important?? Like, when the armed law enforcement officer says "show me your hands!!" and you fell asleep in the 8th grade and all you hear is "blah-blah-blah-rap-lyrics" you end up getting shot?

I don't always side with the officers, at least not in a lockstep "the officer is always right" way, but when an officer gives you a command, you damn well better listen or things can end badly.

White Officer made a very poor decision, of course camera angle can be deceiving but looks like he shot accidentally almost and in direction of partner.

I agree play stupid games, Officer knew dead turd, called him out by first name at least once...

Black Officer going to have a tough time justifying shooting a guy with hands raised, he may have said don't move a lot, he also says lets get them out of car, he was clearly amped up, I'm sure there back story there

White Officer absolutely can not.

Easy to armchair quarterback. Officer's lives never be same. Sucks for them, Dead guy no loss to society.

Always cracks me up when the news ends the segment with "no information on how the officers knew the mans name".

Anyone that has been in law enforcement, friends in law enforcement or family in law enforcement will tell you, they know EVERYTHING these guys do. It's a matter of timing and convenience as to when they get them. The rolling stop is a good example. It was their job that night to get him.

The officer was begging him, calling him by his first name, to not move.

Kudos to Gail King on CBS for saying that maybe people need to be retrained. When an armed officer says don't move, maybe you shouldn't move.

Two more lives ruined.

The dead man had one gun that the officer saw. My police friends always say they use the Plus 1 rule. When you know of one weapon on the perp, assume he has access to another.

This video could be used as a valuable public service message. When a police officer tells you to do something...DO IT!!!

When I was in high school, the Ohio State Highway Patrol distributed movies with scenes from actual fatal car accidents. One of the movies was "Signal 30", link below. The movies showed mangled, burned bodies, some of my fellow students lost their lunches. Made a big impression on me. Maybe the video of this NJ police shooting would make a similar and valuable impression?

One man fails to follow police instructions and dies. The other follows instructions and lives. Seems simple.
