Default Neighbor Kid Has Been Bugging Me To Take Him Ice Fishing...

We both had the day off yesterday, so we went out for a few hours in the morning. I had him pick "the spot" on the pond and he caught a few nice 'gills right off the bat. Then he tussled with this pig for the next 15 minutes. I had to drill a second hole and chip out the middle to get it on the ice. Taped out at 30 inches. Quite a feat on two pound line. Fish was released, so I am rethinking swimming in the pond...

rethinking swimming? Over that?

Come on down to Florida. The gators watch you swim where I live.

Nice fish btw.

Nice job!!
Real accomplishment on 2 lb line.
I've caught a lot of big fish on 2 lb line but I've been doing it for a lifetime.
This lad is destined to be a great fisherman.
Kudos for taking him too.

Around here you would've just convinced a lot of people TO go swimming there. They'd be trying to catch that thing with their hands (noodling).... not me though.

Not me. There is a resident snapper in the pond that is about the size of a trash can lid. We have an understanding that if he leaves me alone, I will leave him alone. Usually see him "sunning" on the surface a few times every summer. I have no problem swimming in the pond. Water is usually clear and cool. Not gonna' be poking my hands under logs and brush piles looking for cats knowing that he is in there. LOL!
