Default Experiences with Uship, good, bad, and ugly?

Has anybody used them? According to our resident shipping expert, they are the cheapest route. But are they all as stupid and incompetent as the few on the tv show?

I need to get a vehicle from CT to SC. so far the quotes from shipping companies are way high, around $1000. I'm told it should be half that from a friend who ships Vehicles frequently.

Considering Uship now.

Can I set a max before I start, like I won't pay over $600? Does their in house rating system work? Meaning is it worth it to choose a higher price from a higher rated driver? And lastly, what are the chances that hot girl from Oklahoma will be the winning bidder?

UShip worked for me on a skiff from LA to SC. No issues and rate was much cheaper than I could have done it myself.

I had a very good experience with UShip, had a 21' boat moved from NC to NY for about $750.

I've used them a couple times for small (standup) jetskis. While they have been cheap it's always been a hassle since this was just a side load. Check the "cancellations" on a shipper. That is just as important as the feedback.

If you can get the hot girl from that show it would definitely be worth it! I would give her a good review.

I have heard some good stories about Uship and even more horror stories about them.

There is no "them" with regard to uShip. Uship is to shipping what eBay is to selling products. You've never bought anything "from eBay." You've bought products that were listed by private sellers on eBay. Sometimes you get screwed.

If you hire a shipper through uShip, it's the same thing. They are all independent shippers holding out their services through uShip. It's up to you to do your due diligence. There are plenty of shippers listed on uShip ready to take your money and haul your load across state lines without the necessary licensing, proper DOT certification or commercial insurance for interstate transport.

Buyer beware. Do your research. Start here.

Great experience. They had a number of guys bid and after running through the list it was clear who was best and he did a great job for us with the correct matched equipment.

Yup. I had 2 good experiences 1 bad. All were shipping motorcycles, NJ-FL or FL-NJ

The bad was my fault, Guy was shipping two bikes down for me, picked up one and his sob story got me to pay for both, never picked up the second... I should have NEVER paid in advance and highly recommend only paying when it's delivered.

Ordered some custom furniture from a place in Florida. They blatantly used Uship to ship it to me, as a Ford Ranger towing an open trailer shows up at my house. The upholstry on the furniture was covered in dead insects, mud splashes, and some chunks out of the wood from rocks. It didn't make it off the trailer, right back to where it came. I think it depends on who you get to drive.

Not for a boat but used them to bring a trailer from CO to PA. It actually worked out great and the price was good. But still, I worried all the way from booking to delivery. Don't know why but just did. Sort of like dealing with ebay. Never had a bad experience there either but always have that uneasy feeling.

I used "ship with JLA" via u-ship when I shipped my boat from West Palm to RI. Very good service!

I am actually waiting for the guys to pickup my vehicle right now. I have never used them. The guy that we hired has 99% feedback but has been stringing me along for the last week. Three different shippers have come out to get the vehicle and all three do not pick it up because they state that it is not as described. Hopefully my guy is just a dud and I can get my deposit back from him and use another shipper. Seems to be a relatively good service.

Excellent results. Found a guy on there who moved 2 boats for me. The broker place I bought from liked him so much they started using him.

Experience #1: Furniture from MD to FL.

Picked up a day late, arrived 2 days late, three items were broken. I had GPS tracking on him. He loaded my stuff in the back of his full trailer. Drove North to CT before going to FL. I guess upon loading and unloading multiple times he gouged the granite on my night stand, broke a full length mirror, and broke the leg on a table.

Experience #2: Vehicle from MD to FL.

Shipper was to pick up 7/3...didn't show up, rescheduled to 7/7....no show...7/15....no show. He then vanished. Upon research he was based out of Miami and changed his address and phone number every year for 7 years. After a month of fighting with him and uShip I got the States Attorney involved and got my $750 back.

I found out he was not a trucking company but a single guy that was a middle man broker...he had the low bid but no trucking company wanted to move my car for that price. My next lowest bids were in the low $800's.

Be careful and make sure if the trucking company and not a broker.

This was the broker. His uShip rating is super high but if you google the name all of the online reviews are horrible. Turns out you can only leave feedback for companies after the shipment arrives....

http://www.uship.com/profile/initiallogistics/

Notice how his cancellations are higher than his positive feedback and he's the #2 vehicle shipper....shipper beware
