Default Anybody had Corrosion-X affect mono?

This morning I sprayed down some of my trolling reels with red, aerosol, Corrosion-X and put them away for the season. It wasn't until afterwards that I got to wondering if the Corrosion-X could damage, weaken or otherwise negatively affect the 50 lbs Suffix mono that was on the reels.

Anyone done this and had any issues. The line is reasonably new and I'd rather not strip it all off.

Dont believe it should cause a problem. To be safe you could freshwater rinse the line, and next year check the tensile strength of the line with a 50lb weight or any other method.

I use CorrosionX liberally on all of my own gear...as well as that of most all of my customers.

When I do a customers reel, I wrap the spool and what ever line is on it with painters tape. All it does is keep the line contained and provides some protection.

In all of my years of using both CX as well as WD40, I have never had what I would consider a problem with it being on the mono. ReelX is essentially the same formulation, just a lighter consistency. And it states it will not harm mono.

Looking forward to receiving your reels!

^ This. Been using Corrosion X on my reels for 20 some years now and often get it on the line. Never experienced a problem.
