Default What are the Odds of This Happening???

I was about 12 miles offshore this morning fishing for whatever would bite. Sat down for a few minutes to grab a drink and when I stood up, I grabbed the tubing of the t-top to help me up and when I did, I grabbed around a bee and it stung the shit out of my finger. Hurt like hell and still hurts.

I wonder what are the odds that there would be a bee on the t-top in the exact spot I grabbed 12 miles off shore? Probably pretty low I'm guessing.

I did end up knocking him to the deck and stomped the shit out of him so that made my finger feel a little better at least.

Man I'd look for others. They have nested somewhere, a bee will not just happen to be 12 miles out. They don't store that much energy??

Should have sqooshed him to the non-skid with that finger and than tied 1 oz. of lead on him after pouring some On-Of on his ass and putting him under a magnifying glass for 5 minutes and than cast him overboard permanently.

p.s. Hopefully he's not from Liberia.

p.s.s. The odds are 87656789.987 to 1.

This^. Not sure what kind of boat you have but it sounds like they've nested somewhere or you brought one on the boat when you left.

Got stung on the finger a few years ago and was amazed how much it hurt. Had been stung a number of times and never really bothered me until that time on the finger.

Probably was on the top when you pulled out and just hung on for dear life. Sucks though.

The weird thing is we were 60 miles offshore yesterday and bugs were landing on our boat all day. Where were they coming from?

Years ago a buddy of mine was anchored fishing for perch on Anchor Bay.He had a 24' ChrisCraft skiff and threw a paddle up into the front cuddy. He centerpunched a yellow jacket nest with the paddle. Not a fun day,he got nailed about 20 times.

A bee or a wasp.

If a bee, there isn't a hive on the boat. Not possible unless you are unable to notice a 3x3ft structure hanging from your t-top

If it was a wasp, you might look for a nest but the likelihood is that you had a random encounter.
