Reusable ice packs?
#1

Guys, I've tried the search function and am getting nowhere. Can someone tell me the name of the reusable ice packs that have two kinds, one below 32 and one for above? I saw a thread on it awhile back and want to get some.

Nu-Ice. If you want to keep ice longer in a cooler or use the Nu-ice instead of ice go with the 32 degree pack. I did a 6 day test on the stuff. The 0 degree is good for shipping frozen food etc but for everyday type needs the 32 degree is the way to go.

I use these in my drink and food cooler when I go out. Keeps my beer and drinks colder than ice. When I first open a beer its a little frosty the first sip. They worked great yesterday when I had a full cooler and 6 of us out at the island all day.

Looking at these myself for basic cooler use, drinks and occasional fish. Torn between AI Chillin Brew or NI 32* series.
How sturdy is the NI material? Looks like it could be punctured easier than the plastic Artic Ice packs? thanks

Dang the ice pack's are expensive! The Nu Ice is almost $25/ 2lb pack, how many packs do you need for a 100 quart cooler? I can buy a whole lot of 8lb bags of ice for a buck -vs- a Nu Ice pack.

Ok, bought the nu ice 32* 5 lb pack pac and used it today. Wow, this stuff stays cold! Kept it in my igloo cooler (not sure how many quarts but smallish, maybe 50 qts) and after 8 hours it showed NO signs of slacking. It was 86* here today. Everything stayed real cold despite repeated opening of the cooler. Waiting to see how durable it is though.so nice not to have to deal with a wet cooler at the end of the day.
