Default Ruth Chris Steakhouse

Hey Guys, I've never been to a Ruth Chris Steakhouse before and the wife really would like to go next week. It's her birthday so I figured what the heck, why not. I know the place is fairly pricey but I'm trying to figure out what two filet dinners and a dessert will cost. No alcohol because she's pregnant and I've been cutting back. Looking for a ballpark price estimate since I'm doing something else somewhat pricey too. Also, is there a "must have" steak or cut? Thanks in advance!

Crap, no prices. Last time was probably 35 to 75 a steak, a la carte.

I feel like for a reasonable size cut (8oz filet, 16oz ribeye) you would be looking at $35-$50 a steak. Mind you, that is for a piece of meat on a plate. More unusual cuts (something like a 22oz cowboy steak) will be more. All sides are extra. Depending on where you are there are a lot better steak houses for the price, but a wise man once said "Do not try to apply logic to a woman's birthday requests. Just do them."

They have a "special" at some locations now where you get a mini appetizers, entree, side and mini dessert for around $50 I believe.

Last time I was at Ruth's Chris was last year for my fathers surprise bday party. For 4 adults with a split appetizer, 3 salads, 4 filets, 4 sides and 1 dessert. Also had 7 domestics between us and I think it was right at $350.

We actually had the private room because we had such a large group (if you are having a party of sorts maybe worth asking if your location has one). Between our party checks ranged from $110 for 2 to just over $225 for 2.

It is really up you as to how much you spend. You can get out under $100 or be well over $300 and still not have any alcohol.

Everything I have tried has been great and I can't say I know of a must have other than the biggest steak you can eat.

Happy Birthday to the admiral.

$125 with an app and dessert to share, plus tip. Can't go wrong with a filet and ribeye.

Ps Morton's is better.

And if you like your steak medium rare, order it rare. If you like it rare, order it blue. They bring them out on a sizzling hot plate, so they keep cooking. By the time you are to the end, youre eating a well done steak. As others said, there are better steak places for the money.

Yup. If you like medium, order med rare, and so on, if you like rare, order Pittsburgh rare.

Where in FL are you OP?

Yeah, its 200 tp 220 when we eat there, and i just ate there last week. Wife is pregnant as well, so she's only drinking a couple Scotches, I don't drink since someone has to drive. It will run you a good 225.00 with tip I think.

Oh, kidding about the wife...lol

i will say there are MUCH better steakhouses around. for us it's "III (3) Forks". Ruth's Chris is almost always over salted and I think they use a Hereford or something. Nice steaks but they have a slightly different taste i think.

That would be the salt and butter.

As for the wife, as long as the Scotch is straight and doesn't have ice in it she is fine. The Scotch won't hurt the baby, too much ice can result in fetal brainfreeze syndrome. Laugh now, its an epidemic among pregnant teens on 711's free slurpee day.

I think one of the best steak restaurants in the country is in Florida.

"Red" there is one in Miami Beach and Boca.

]I am from Texas the land of great steaks, but I never miss an opportunity to dine at a Red when visiting Florida.

No way I ever spend that kinda money on food. A $100 steak and a $5 Big Mac meal both end up as worthless turds.

Maybe it varies from place to place, but the Ruth's here is quite good, sure it's crazy expensive but it's good.

We have one here in Lahaina.
When people visit, they want to go there.
It is good, not great.
Easy to spend $150.00 or more each.
Last time I was in FL.
We ate at Bern's? I enjoyed it.

Good luck through these storms hitting you tonight. Have a few friends your way. That said, yup, not sure if it is spelled Burn's or Bern's but if it is outside of Tampa was far superior to Ruth's Chris. That said, still doesn't help OP.

I was there on Monday. Petit Filet was 36 - that's an 8oz IIRC. The most expensive steak on the menu was $42... The sides are roughly $8-$13 each. Blue cheese wedge salad was like $10 or something.

Let me see if I can scare up any gift cards for the place...

The cocktail night sounds like a good deal...looks like they are still running the ~$50 special too.

It might not be the best, but it's really good...have fun
