If you are in the S Fl area try Council Oaks at the Hard Rock Casino get the Tennis Racket.
Huge steak and if in season the oyster Rockefeller is the best.

We have a Council Oaks at the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa as well. Never eaten there myself, which I kinda regret. Quite a few times I cant think of anything to do or goto eat and I forget the casino is supposed to be pretty good.

You still haven't said what area. If it is Tampa area and you've never been to Berns I would do that. Or plenty of other nice Tampa restaurants, my latest favorite is Ocean Prime. awesome food. Not far from Ruth's either.

I have not read all 4 pages but the place is way over rated; take the wifey if she wants to go. Personally I would rather go to Outback and save $200.

I like RC's - infrared broilers, and nice salty prime beef.
BERN's is over rated.. Good "bucket list" trip, and the desert room is wonderful.
Capital Grill is also a good suggestion.
I do not care for Mortons myself.

Buy yourself a TEC infrared grill and she will never wanna go back out to eat steak.

We're probably gonna do the one in Lake Mary. Don't think I'm gonna be able to get out of it. Her birthday is once a year so why not..

Ruth's Chris sucked big sweaty balls. We go to one of those Brazilian steakhouses with guys that walk around with giant skewers of like 20 different kinds of amazing meats. All you can eat, and we get out the door for $100 with a very generous tip.

The name of that Brazil style is churrascaria, and the ones I have been to were awesome. They have the two color chip in front of each plate. Green up means I want more, red side means I'm good for now. Ya gotta love it!

I agree 100%. I do the same thing. I have all my steaks timed out to the second using my phone timer and a ridiculously hot grill. Wife and I both eat medium rare, so its pretty easy. I err towards medium she errs towards rare, so the only problem is she usually gets the bigger steak if they differ.

Want to make a better sauce than anything you'll get in a restaurant, do this next time you're making steak:

Equal parts mushrooms garlic onions in a pan with EVOO
Cook til soft
Add s and p
Add 2/1 sherry or dry red wine/Worcestire, reduce to 1/3 of liquid, remove from heat
Put on top of steak.

Steak shouldn't need sauce. The only sauce I'll put on my steak is bacon.

Ate there last week, it's a company owned location, so it's usually very good. They are usually busy, so a reservation is a good idea, also tell them it's your wife's birthday, they'll make it special! Request "Mustafa" to be your waiter. He's an older gentlemen and is a very good server. He will make sure your dinner is a special occasion.

Regarding cost, it's usually right at $100 / person.

Enjoy your dinner!

Needing something and making something better are two very different things.

I get what you're saying, but I personally don't like any sauces on steak. The meat is the only thing I want to taste, at least on a good medium rare ribeye or something similar.

FWIW I'm not a fan of steakhouses, my wife and I can cook a much better meal for a 1/3 the price.

Don't forget that Ruth's is a business.

Of course you can grill you own steak cheaper (and maybe better) but Ruth's has to pay rent, salaries, insurance, make a profit, etc.

Those Brazilian places seem to be popping up everywhere. We've got two in Pittsburgh that I know. of. I ate at the one in the bottom of the Mirage in Vegas about 10 yrs ago. The ones I've eaten at were good. Don't visit the salad bar. Why fill up on rabbit food when you can fill up on beef, pork and lamb.

They had some grilled pineapple rolled in Cinnamon........ NOMNOMNOM. I ate filet, prime rib, and lamb chops until I was about to puke, then they brought that sucker out and I didn't think I could make it back to the car.
