Talking Welcome to Destin, Fl

Headed out our gate this afternoon and this is what greeted me. Needless to say I turned back and went back to the house. Poor touron`s, come here and you sit in traffic instead of sitting on the beach. Gotta suck

I watch this webcam from there. http://www.earthcam.com/usa/florida/destin/?cam=destin

And this one. http://www.earthcam.com/usa/florida/...?cam=sandestin

Yep, More people waiting on the road than laying on the beach.

I live next door to the east of Sandestin. All this traffic was headed west.

Headed to the in-laws place in Seagrove Thursday morning. Can't wait for all the 4th traffic on 30-A. Really cuts into my beer drinking time.

How is the traffic in the Freeport area.

Someone in another post eluded to a bridge you wanted to stay clear of during weekends this time of the year especially holiday weekends.

Freeport would be the 331 bridge, if you're going to the 30-a area it is likely how you will come in, unless you go up to 79 (I think it's 79) and backtrack from the outskirts of pcb.

The mid bay bridge takes you straight into destin, and I can imagine it would be a nightmare on a holiday weekend.

We are headed down Sunday....it may be marginally less bad next week but its the season....my favorite time of year down there is late September into October.

Never take the Wells Bridge....77 to 388 to 79 to 98 for me.

This is exactly why I have a rule against going anywhere near there or Orange Beach between June and August. Way too many people.

There was a bad accident this afternoon about 2:30 West of sandestin that caused the backup. About 30 minutes before that traffic was bad but moving.

Yep, Hwy 331 from Freeport south is under road construction. It`s been a long time coming. The new bridge is being built across the bay so it`s pretty slow going with the construction crew trucks entering and exiting the road.
If your going to the east end of 30A, I personally would take Hwy 79 south and catch Hwy 98 west. It`s all 4 laned and you`ll miss all the construction traffic. Unless you enjoy sitting in traffic.

Doesn't look like such a great Destin-ation.

Staying home with burger beers friends and family don't even have a boat in the water this weekend.

Ya'all enjoy.

From Dothan we take Hwy 77 to Hwy 20 and cut across to Hwy 79 to our families condo on the west end of PCB. It cuts out the 231 traffic and the "in town" traffic.

Man that sux. I remember Ft Walton, Destin, P;cola from the 70's. Miles of empty beaches then. Sad but normal that it is so crowded now.

Im headed down there Sunday. Hopefully everyone will be headed home and it will be settled down some, not likely though. I dread the traffic going in to town and almost never go into Destin proper anymore.
