The guy who comes and does it for $99 is the best one!

I'd go with the cheaper one as it can be gift wrapped. Your wife will appreciate it when you hand it to her and tell her to get busy.

But honestly I don't know - would think either would cut a turd.

I have one of the auger snake ones, but to be honest it never really worked. You also have to be careful, because the metal will scratch the porcelain. I had a toilet that flushed slow and thought maybe there was a toy down there, but never did figure it out. Ended up replacing the toilet, I think it was just loaded with calcium deposits.

What kind of issue do you have that a plunger won't fix?

I have used the auger type for the drain going from my kitchen sink to the main drain pipe. Worked really well. It got rid of the clog and then I followed up with that stuff you put in overnight to eat away at the grease and stuff. Not sure if they have the same type of stuff in turdbuster formula though.

Go with the rigid. They're quality is not what it once was, still better than the cheaper home owner model.

No current issue but I have used the plunger in the past and it was a PITA and often made a big mess - I am replacing a wax ring and saw something on-line about a toilet snake and didn't know for sure what it was..

Thanks to all for the advice

Am I the only one that thinks, "my penis", when reading "toilet snake"?
