Default Did something stupid today - confronted some young punks

So I went out for a late lunch today right about the time school was getting out. Where I live the main road becomes a gridlocked mess around 2:00 when all the schools get out. So there I was waiting to exit a parking lot onto the main road a bus goes by and a van was sitting still – probably texting, as I pulled out He sped up and laid on his horn. Traffic was stopped so I get out of my car and ask him to roll his window down and the usual bickering happens:

Me: What’s your problem
Him: Why did you pull out in front of me
Me: Why do you have to be ass - nobody’s going anywhere – have some manners
Him: I don’t know what he mumbled
Me: That’s going to get you in big trouble someday – don’t be an ass

He was very clearly not wanting any trouble – nor was I but he was a younger kid and was backing away so I backed away making sure that I was not being any more aggressive than getting out of my car to talk.

I get back in my car and drive away. He then starts following me beeping his horn at me again so I led him on for a while and he eventually peels away. Now I started thinking about the brave new world we are in. I’m sure somewhere I am on video and certain I am on face book by now. I'm sure he took a pic of my liscense plate.

What do I have to look forward to now?
· Being on social media? I'm sure he could find out who i am through social networks
· With technology today I was concerned that he was texting friends to come help him beat me up or something
· In the old days it would be done and over but now I am not so sure.- people are crazy.

· We live I a pretty well off community so it’s not like were in Compton – I’m fairly certain he goes to the local high school
· Brave new world……

Well I didn't know it was a high school kid at the time.

I got out because I am frustrated with the way people are today. I know it was stupid and wrong.

Me too, I really don't know why I did it to be honest. You can see what good it did me.

I totally wouldn't be surprised if the cops show up at my door..

Happy Father's Day to me.

Relax man. Nothing will come of this because you got back in your car and it didn't escalate.
If it does, say you went back to ask directions or see if they needed help.

My brother did the same thing as you, and the kid ran him over with the car. The cops said the kid had every right to do it as once you get out of the car you are the aggressor. My brother has had 3 surgery's on his leg so far. He has talked to a few attorneys and they wont take the case.

At the insistence of my soon to be step daughter (we actually made a deal that benefited both of us)I toned down my "road rage". To do so I slowed down considerably, started leaving more than enough room from the car in front of me and stopped all "hand signals". I'm always way earlier than I need to be anyway so the hurry up stuff was unnecessary anyway. I am so much more at ease now, I'm well over 60 and even though I stay in good shape I really don't need to be fighting in the streets anymore. Life is better when you let the assholes do what they need to do and put them on "ignore".

I wouldn't sweat it. You didn't do anything illegal and even if you did most kids don't have much of an attention span.

Be carefull with stuff like that. Road rage can lead to some serious situations.

If I have someone approaching me looking for a confrentation while I am in my car and "stuck" as there are other vehcles around I would be ready to go .

Hopefully that will be the worst thing that happens to you this weekend. Have a great father's day and "forget about it"

Since you got out of your car (first) you would be the aggressor. Don't sweat the pity shit, you'll live longer

Did you ever burn your house down or did you undo your electrical tomfoolery?

Nothing you've posted would constitute a crime, IMO. Have a great Father's Day.
