Default Television and entertainment system help needed...

I got rid of the 10 year old 37" TV at the beach home and replaced it with a new 55" TV. I bought a wall mount for it, and a shelving system that matches the wall mount to go under it. I also bought a Sonos system for the place and included the sound Bar and Sub for the TV. I also got an apple TV and a DVD player.

This is the extent of my knowledge of TV systems (in fact it's beyond my extent of knowledge because I have no idea what the apple TV is for). So, while I'm doing this once every 10 year upgrade, is there anything I'm missing and need to add? The installers are going to be there next week.

Sounds like you have it under control to me. FWIW I ditched the DVD player and use my Apple TV when I want to rent something.

Do you have wifi in the house? Might need some hdmi cables or whatever cables you'll be connecting the DVD and Apple with, assuming HDMI, but possibly not? If you want to hide the cables easily, they sell cable cover track that is pretty cool and hides the cables okay. It has a peel and stick backing and is fairly easy to use. You should probably have your wifi password handy too.

I think you'll enjoy the Apple TV. Use your iPhone (or other Apple TV compatible smartphone) so you can directly view your smartphone pics on your TV ... oh, and add a Netflix subscription if you don't already have one (which we access via the Apple TV and our subscription through iTunes).

If you can, it's better to hardwire the internet connected devices.

One more question... how can i put a link of the local weather up on it so that it constantly refreshes and doesn't go to a screensaver? I've seen this in marinas and whatnot.
