some of them are displacement hulls.
And even if they are planing hulls, they have more drag then a mono hull.

same principle as two boats same length, power and weight with different deadrise, the one with less deadrise will normally go faster.
Less boat in the water at speed, less drag

The tradeoff is a supposedly smoother ride at a slower speed.

From the outside looking in, I'd say the increased surface area yields greater hull to water friction.

The primary reason is the cat owners are probably recovering from hemorrhoidectomies since they previously owned boats like the one I drive.....you don't want to have the donut fly away.

Thats a lie!!!!!!!! all my seats had cushions, so I didn't need the donut....and besides, if I'd of bought a go fast first, I couldn't have afforded a cat......not on my trusty side kick salary

You know I was joking Gordon.......I never have anything but praises for cats. Besides, everybody knows cats go slow because the owners are normally steeping some tea bags when underway and they don't want to spill the brew.

Seriously, I just wanted to flush you out of the Sandbar to see what you are up to.

I'm still waiting to try out the new coffee maker, I'll have to get back to you on the tea bags

I've been north, south, and north again since Dennis. The house in Il. went on the market a couple of weeks ago(I think, I'm losing track of time).

I'm glad you came and got me when you did there's neked people there.

Does that mean you are moving south for good?

BTW - I am still trying to recover from the pic of the guy in the sausage wrapper standing next to GWB..... so the Sandbar is off limits until I regain my equilibrium.

More wetted surface for LOA, and greater weight to length ratio. Hull types tend to be more of a combination between semi-displacement and planing. They make some very fast hulls for cats but they seem to be generated more for thrill seekers then the run of the mill fishing/cruising and vice versa crowd. The WC crowd seem pretty pleased with the performance of their purchases.

See you at the marina Wes....I just decided to pack the truck and go fishing this weekend. Let's see if we can find some cats and throw our rooster tails on their decks.....contrary to popular opinion I guarantee I can get a cat wet!

How is it that you normally wear those....with an adjustable belt....like a clip on tie

No joke....I got to the marina today and a guy (rarely fished offshore) that recently purchased a 27WC (he unloaded his 28 Parker) came in with 4 kings and 52 lb wahoo. I am going to where he was and if I can't catch a hoo I am committed to buying a cat......real soon.

I don't know wether to be happy for you because you're getting a new boat or sad because you still haven't caught one of the elusive hoo's who have eluded you. Maybe if you layed in a supply of those little bottles of chocolate milk it'd help you get your mind right.

Like Bull keeps suggesting, you could of just offered him some money

Wes,

He caught the big hoo at R6. He had a bunch of small kings and the hoo.

Tireless,

Gawdy gold jewlery, toupe's, loud stereo's, paint-on tans, speedo swim suits (yuch), the wifegirlfreind is 40 years younger with a $10,000 set of store boughts.............I just can't picture that on a World Cat, Glacier Bay or Twin Vee for that matter.

What cat could a Fountain owner possibly be interested in? Unless of course it did 100mph.

Sorry for derailing the thread gafish912....but it was in the dockside chat forum and when Tireless starts talking about Catamarans I feel its my civic duty to remind him of his boating roots.........

Andy (jk there buddy)
