Off topic... but interesting place:

... Good luck on the medical end. If she's stable, I'd try to move her to a facility in the US... lots of places I'd go outside of the US for medical care... Mexico, not one of them.

Default Mom

Sorry to hear about your mom. Moms are precious. Hope she does well.
In regards to the call Monday thing, it is like calling a major corporation in the U.S. Press #1 for english, #2 for Spanish, # 37 for Russian, # 145 for African, and # 474 for Ebonics. Many think that we are advancing. I question to what ? Extinction ????? J.M.O. !

Chances are there are doctors there who trained in the US and she is getting excellent care. Mexico isn't third world - in many ways I think they are equal to us - including medicine in the larger cities. Best wishes to your mom and know she is probably in good hands.

Trip, i thought i forwarded you the number? They speak English at IMSS hospitals. All of the hospitals have bilingual staff, something you were told is wrong

Did you send me the number - I must have missed it ... Will check PM's again now ....

My friend called and they said a Dr would be available to talk to me during regular business our Monday between 9-5 .. and that I could only speak to someone if I was there in person..

Found that odd

Nope, not odd for Mexico. I spend a lot of time there. I'm surprised they gave you any info over the phone. Here's a good resource for you. Just search medical once on the site. Good luck and I hope your mother is ok.

We have a life flight insurance program where they will evacuate us to San Diego muy pronto, its a membership and that was one of the reasons we felt comfortable living here in our old age, plus we have an american hospital with a cath lab etc.

Do not assume the worst, the US is close to being a third world country when it comes to medical care. Hope your Mom is fine.

At any time or only M-F from 9-5 with checkbook on person?
Some facilities there are as good as anywhere. Not many but some are very good.
Stroke or heart attack ~~ no time to waste.... not even enough time to check your membership number. Other than for accidents not a great plan

Its a small group who participates and its an immediate response. It isnt cheap but living here isnt a cheap concern. It may not be perfect but its as good as it gets and as i said we have an american owned and operated hospital here as well. These days Cabo is basically like San Diego except San Diego has more Mexicans!

Can I ask as delicately as possible-

Why aren't you on a plane to Mexico?

I'd give anything to be able to visit my mom.

Couldn't agree more, but in all fairness, we don't know the circumstances.

Hey Andrew, sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she'll recover quickly.
As others have said, get on a plane, and go see her!!
