How come some youtube clips come up as clips, and others just as URLs?

You're supposed to be the answer man.

I'm drinking Stella Artois tonight. Looking forward to it already.

Thank Jehovah that Alco-Jolly is not banned.

Default For conceled carry

For concealed carry whle the all the Kimbers are NICE.... I would not want one or for that matter any single action 1911's for a carry gun.

My preference would be either a single stack Para Ordnance LDA Compact in 45 or possibly a Sig. I recently got to play extensively with a 229 and it is right at the top of my list for next aquisitions.

I own and shoot several 1911's and while they are as nice a firearm as you can find (my meaning of nice is... they go bang everytime you pull the trigger and the bullets go where you aim them) I just don't think they are the way to go for defensive carry. The PO LDA comes with a fantastic double action trigger right out of the box, the stroke is a little long but if you any expierence with 1911's they will feel very familiar very quickly.

Just throwin my 2 cents out there,

Joe

Not sure where this "one gun" concept came from. I feel equally comfortable carrying a 1911, XDS, PPK, and S&W J-Frame. Kinda like saying you can't drive your Burb one day, your Vette the next, and your motorcycle the next. ;?

Sort of depends, but I will give you some thoughts:

Glock, depends on the fit to you. They are very reliable, as are the Sig and Springfield. One thing to examine if you don't mind ordering ammo on the internet is the Glock in .45 GAP. It was a collaboration 'tween Glock and Speer to duplicate .45acp ballistics in a small frame. The end result is a nine millimeter frame with .45 ballistics.

The Glock 39 is in my carry rotation. It is the smallest of the Glocks and very impressive to this 1911 guy. The 30s is a good choice, though a little bigger with more rounds.

On the XDS, nice pistol, it has a grip safety, recoils harder than the Glock and overall is a nice choice too. Make sure you get a post recall model, you can tell by little roll pin high on grip safety.

On the Sigs, great reliable albeit somewhat heavier pistol. I like the P220 SAS carry model. It is a melted frame carry piece from the custom shop and costs twice the price of a Glock. If you get the DA/SA common model, many, including myself find the transition from DA to SA disconcerting. The Sig has a metal frame, unlike the other two.

If possible, rent all three or if you are comfortable without, get the best deal and the best fit. The .45 GAP gets a lot of silly debate as an answer to a problem that didn't exist... bla bla bla, but mostly from those who haven't shot one.

Best of luck in the hunt.

Not to offend the posters above, but Kimbers scare me. You either get a really good one or a really bad one it seems. The older Kimbers were hand made and dynamite. Para is problematic in my experience and I have seen reports of frame breakage.

Although I love my 1911 I'm with others here it isn't the best design for ccw. With the easily disabled safety and a light trigger. I would trust my life with my kimber but would feel more comfortable that I'm not going to shoot myself with one of the modern strike fire models such as glock, XDM, or M&P.

Anyone have the Beretta PX4 Storm in 45? My brother has it in 9mm and loves it as his EDC.
