I may be in the minority here...... but would rather he suffer for 100 years making big rocks into little rocks 18 hours a day and locked in a cell the rest of the time with no tv, no books, etc ...

Death is too easy .... make him "wish" he was dead.....

We need to bring back the gallows and public hanging. A little neck stretching will slow down would be
killers, rapists and pedophiles.

Not going to happen. Very few hard labor prisons anymore. One of the exceptions is Louisiana State Penetentiary at Angola. They grow their own beef, hogs, vegetables and they make several other products. Including License Plates for the State, Roadsigns, Hospital Gowns.........

Anyway, 18 years is to long to let a ****er rest in a jail cell. He needs to be tortured.

I'm with you on the execution being to quick and painless. Lethal injection? I look at that like what you do when your life long pet dog is too old and frail to keep going so you take him to the vet to be put down.

The punishment should fit the crime. Did you make your victim suffer? Then you should suffer as well. And chipping rocks isn't enough, people can adapt to manual labor and marginal regular pain.

At the very least he should have had to look forward to being cooked in the chair. If I were in his place I would wish for the lethal injection to come soon. But I would do whatever it takes to stay out of the chair, including hard labor every day for the rest of my life.

No....his death sentence should have been dismemberment while still alive. Let him watch videos of live dismemberings every day until his turn comes up.

That family has been through so much. Jimmy's mother died of a heart attack a few years ago so she never got to see justice for her son.

This man was the devil. He deserved what he got although I wished it could have been done in a way to exact the same fear and pain that poor little boy felt.

I never would have thought someone who escaped from Cuba on a raft would commit a crime.

My plan for a scumbag like this is to hang him by his arms and slice a 1'' hole in any random of the larger muscles and insert a piece of rocksalt and sew it up. Repeat this every time he comes out of shock until he dies with a bit of waterboarding mixed in just incase it is possible to make it any more terrorizing.

From the article, Jimmy Ryce's sister committed suicide in GA. The father said that Jimmy's death and the POS murderer had weighed heavily on her mind in the month or so before she took her own life.

Maybe I'm an optimist or naive or something, but after the trial, these murderers mean nothing to me. I mean that literally- nothing. I don't want to torture them or make them do hard work. I don't care if they live to a hundred or die the day after sentencing.

Maybe it's apathy. I don't know. I feel nothing toward them.

But my brain says, can we take a tragedy and make it into something good? Certainly the Ryce family did, in both small and large ways. One of the small things they did was petition bill klinton to allow "Missing" posters in federal buildings, which he did by executive order. I also remember radio genius Phil Hendrie donating money to found a bloodhound program to hunt down missing kids.

What about the rest of us? The absolute best idea I have ever heard is to harvest these criminals' organs for transplant to save good people. I think death row inmates should be subjected to new, dangerous medicines and be the guinea pigs for new medical procedures. "Will this new artificial heart work? Hell if I know. Let's stick it in Ted Bundy or Juan Carlos Chavez and find out!"

Do these sound like good ideas? I think so. Why don't we enact laws like these? That's something we can do.

Of course the liberals will oppose, but the people will support, so why don't the Republicans use this as a wedge issue? Because they are the Republi-can'ts.

We in South Florida have gotten soft on criminals and bloated on procedure over the decades. Some idiot tried to assassinate Franklin D. Roosevelt at Bayfront Park in the 1930s. He fired 5 or 6 rounds, missed FDR, but did kill the mayor of Chicago. Do you know how long it took from the day of the shooting to when the shooter was executed? Thirty-five days!!!

I used to be for cap punishment until I heard it cost more than to make them miserable for life. Miserable for life or hopefully hell on earth is a better end for the f*ckers.

Wow I did not know about His sister, as if his parents have not gone through enough already.

Jimmy and I were in the same class from kindergarten until 5th grade when my family moved out of homestead and it was that year he was killed. I have not thought about him in quite a while but there was an article in the herald today that brought tears to my eyes. I feel somewhat guilty for the life that I've been blessed with for the past 19 years since his death, especially after knowing the terror that poor kid went through in his last moments of life.

May Jimmy rest in peace and that piece of shit Chavez rot in ****ing hell.
