Default Corvette C6 owners - new after market wheels

Went to a customs home that just bought the new C7. Have to say I did not like the pics on the internet, and thought the lines were to sharp, and yes too much Camaro rear end. Gotta say after spending some time with the car - fell in love with it.

started the sales pitch with the wife - not so good, and honestly spending 75-80K on a new Vette we hardly ever drive (2006 paid cash and bought new now with 18k miles) makes really no sense. She says "why not get the new wheels that you always wanted, and get a full detail". Funny how things work, that wheel purchase would have been an issue without the new car idea Anyhow - here are the new Sr1 chrome wheels.

Really like the deep dish rim 3" rear, and 2" front. Love the curved out radius spokes. The calipers were custom powder coated 6 years ago, and still look new. They were done in the factory Monterey red. These wheels really show the calipers and sloted rotors IMO. Z51 package convertible.

Look great

Toying with the idea of going to gloss black on my Vette, do they make those wheels in gloss black

Also if you don't mind how much were those, pm me if you like

Thanks

Yes - Gloss, a more flat/satin, and (what I really like) is the black and chrome. The wife likes the chromes, as I do. This was a special from Don at RPI - 1254.00 shipped to the door and no tax. Looked forever, did not want to be at 3-4k for wheels on a 06 Vette. These were my favorite. They have a special deal if you want to PM me.

If I had a black top I would have been all over these - perfect blend of chrome (but not too much) into a black fade. Not to much chrome - not too much plain black, likely easier to maintain???

What do you think of these wheels on a Corvette? I really like them, so much so that I bought a set for one of my cars!

Nice ride Jon.. The rims you have in those photos make the car look classy.
I like that.
Vettes have two different looks. Classy or fast.
You buy according to how you want the car to look. One size don't fit all (owners)
On most cars nothing you can do changes the looks for the better than a set of rims. but man you have to be careful cause the wrong rim can make the car look crappy to.
Nothing on a vette looks better than the CCWs but they ain't cheap. Used they still run in the 2500 dollar range.
PS,, I AM NOT a fan of solid blacked out rims and people can turn a chance to make a car look great into something that makes the car look busy and cheap..
With as fast as cars have become on the street going classy is a sure thing.
You build or buy it to look fast, it better be fast cause your going to get challenged.
Stick with the classy.

Foose nitrous rims on the sky and yep,,, thats what their called.
Centerline on the dragster.
Changing the rims makes all the difference in the world.

Not a fan of chrome on newer Corvettes. I had CCWs on my C5 Z06.

New wheels can totally transform the look of a car.

Are these rims forged, gravity cast, or pressure cast? Are they lighter than your OEM wheels?

I had a 2006 Z06 with HRE's on it. I found them on craigslist.
Here's stock and with the HRE's.
Oh yea, the HRE's were 5 lbs. a wheel lighter on the fronts, and almost 7 lbs. each lighter on the rears.

I like both sets, it would be a hard decision to make. You could use the OEM wheels for the winter if you drive it in the winter.

I wouldn't be surprised if the OEM wheels cost more than the after-market wheels.

Matte or Brushed only for me….. Those HRE's above look nice on the Vette …

Wheels are a very personal decision…. Enjoy !!

I realize it's not a Vette, but I started drooling when I saw this yesterday! Very nice combination and would look great on a Vette!

These aren't bad either:
