Thats what I'm taking about there, no charges faces by the neighbor. Scumbags got a little lesson, but they may be to stupid to learn!

Unfortunately in NY shooter would be in jail and burglars would be walking the streets to do it again.

Sounds like the neighbor may have performed a nice, measured response to finding two burglars in the house. Not hard to imagine the burglars threatening the neighbor, one takes a step toward the neighbor, gets shot and the other decides to behave and wait for the police. Crooks should be grateful the neighbor didn't empty the magazine into them.

Hats off to the neighbor, no sympathy for the crooks.

Not just in NY. I think even in FL the shooter might be facing some charges. Simply because it was not his home and he went looking for the crooks. Hopefully I'm wrong.

But well done to the neighbor. West Virginia, they still carry some of the laws and traditions of the Hatfield's & McCoy's era.

It sounds as if the neighbor was asked by the homeowner to investigate the cause of an alarm. Because of that, the neighbor was, in all likelihood, legally entitled to enter the home. If he was then confronted with a situation that caused him to fear for his life (in a place where he had a legal right to be), he would be entitled in many states to use deadly force in self-defense.

The key argument would be that the neighbor didn't go looking for crooks, he went looking for the cause of an alarm and wisely chose to arm himself in case there was a threat to his personal safety.
