Anyone in Lexus sales?

Default Anyone in Lexus sales?

We drove a 2014 ES 350 and liked it compared to our 2010 Accord that runs great.

Didn't try hard to negotiate a deal, but 5% off and match my Carmax appraisal for the Accord was their offer. I've been reading the Club Lexus forum and it seems that 10% off MSRP is the number to shoot for.

Were not needing to change cars at this time, but with all the "December to remember" sales event we figured to take a look.

My neighbor is CFO for a major car dealership, he basically told me their are no sale prices for new cars. Its all supply and demand and how good you are at negotiating the price, financing, trade-in and B.S. add-ons. The "December to remember" sales event is advertising to basically get you into the stealership.

find out the invoice price for the car (cf. google) and deduct from there. MSRP is a rip off

This. Never negotiate off the MSRP. Negotiate from the invoice price. I purchased my Lexus GX for $500 above invoice, now whether that was 5% or 10% MSRP i don't know.

If you want to speak with a good no non-sense saleman and you don't mind the drive to Rockville, MD let me know. I pick up all my cars from this guy and I know the GM of the dealership.

PS December closer to the end of the month is the best time to buy a current model year (2013) car. Dealers are trying to make room for the '14's and trying reach quotas.

I have a 2013 ES350 (Same one as 14) and I got 11% off msrp at the time of purchase in last years december to remember. I also got a 1000 lexus loyalty credit since i was trading in another lexus. Also I got my dealer to scrap the dealer fee.

The carmax match on trade in is good. I think you are fine there.

No, I'm not in Lexus sales, more like Lexus purchasing. Consumer Reports just named the Lexus ES300h best in class for VALUE. We are very pleased with ours (43 mpg average over the last year). The hybrid is the sister ship to the ES350 which you test drove, so it's no wonder you liked the car. Here's my take on negotiating the sales price for your new Lexus. Don't stress yourself out over saving $500 on such a major purchase. With minimal homework, you'll know what a reasonable price range is for the car. Find the car you want, make an offer within that range, and you will probably be rewarded with a pleasant buying experience. If you actually enjoy grinding it out over several days, have at it.

Very good advice. If you havent owned a Lexus before, get ready... You will never want anything else. I am on my third and I am 29 years old. The service, customer treatment, drive, and extreme reliability will blow you away.

out of every 50 people that walk into a dealership, 1 buys. walk in knowing that and with a price and you'll get your way. it took me about 45 days when i purchased by last car (jeep wrangler) but i had the sales guy calling me everyday after 25 days or so of my initial and only visit and he dropped the price at each call until it was a few hundred dollars away from my opening bid. i didnt even test drive the car. (i did that at another dealer), i just walked in, got a salesperson to talk to me, gave him a list of what i wanted in the car and told him my price. i told him about the 50/1 and told him i was the "1". he would earn a commmission with no work.

i've done that twice and it has worked twice.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I have done a little research on most of the web searches mentioned above. We aren't pressed to buy at this time, but if the right offer was made we would have purchased it. The problem is they had to DX the car from PA, if it was on their lot they might have done the deal for what we wanted.

Like I said it was just a itch I had to scratch so we went for a test drive and DO like the car (drove an Avalon and Taurus too, no thanks). We may wait until the 2015s come out and get a 14 then. Most of the 13s left are not the color or package we want.

Thanks Fish'nFool, we might take you up on that if we get to point of purchasing. I do like the dealer near us and the young salesman wasn't pushy or full of BS, he went to bat for us. Just couldn't get the numbers I was looking for.

Had a local dealer do the "if we had it in stock" thing to me when I got my Mustang. I tracked down the car (using search inventory on Ford website) and sent that dealer an email with a much lower "will give you deposit right now" offer than I was trying for locally. They called me to say yes within an hour. Went and got it a few days later.

You spent 45 days dicking around negotiating the price of a Jeep? A discussion that could / should have taken an hour? You must have a lot of free time on your hands.

You appear to be a value shopper looking for a specific car that is a good value to begin with. That's a great combination.

I had finally found the car I wanted at a dealer 100 miles away. The price negotiation, if you can call it that, went like this on the phone. "May I please speak with your sales manager? Does the Lexus blah, blah blah, with VIN such and such really exist at your dealership? I'm from San Diego, and I'll have to drive quite a ways to come see it. How much will you sell it to me for today? Yes, I'll hold. Sounds good, I'll see you this afternoon." The deal was done. We drove 2 hours to the dealership. The sales manager introduced me to a salesman when I arrived. He asked, "I understand you already have a price from the sales manager, is that right? Yes. OK, let's go do the paperwork." I had received a discounted, fair price, and it took me all of about 10 minutes on the phone.

The value of eliminating a STRESSFUL negotiation from the transaction was PRICELESS.

i was there for one hour and then after about 5-6 phone calls from the salesperson to me in the comfort of my office over the course of about 45 days after my initial visit, the deal got done. i went in and spent 2 hours signing and waiting.

sorry, my english is not perfect even after about 49 years. . .

Funny, I'm not opposed to purchasing from a distance. I purchased my boat from Chatlee Marine in NC and my GMC Yukon from Ben Mynatt in Concord NC. I wanted a loaded Yukon with 2 wheel drive and they had it, people in MD need 4WD for 2" of snow so that's all the local dealers had. Also I drove to Boone NC for dining room furniture from Charleston Forges warehouse sale.

My wife said to me "we should move to NC"

Well we did it.

After searching the inventory online I found a dealer less than 50 miles from the house with the car we wanted. It was a pleasant buying experience with very little haggling. We picked up a 2013 near the end of the moth/year for a deal we couldn't refuse.

Well there are incentives, rebates, and holdback which may effect the price but in general you are correct. Supply and demand.
