Cool to see the troopers radar hit dead on the money the same speed he was going.
Tail tell sound of bigger injectors when he lets off of it and changing gears. Popping.
I'm sure they had to have the legal mufflers under it to be a production Hennessey vette but there still a few places that have not caught up to the sniff test yet. I'm sure its coming but for now the few of us that enjoy it have some really wicked sounding street rides when we're out and about.

Surprising as it sounds,200 mph for a Corvette is pretty easy to reach. In 1997 the C5 ran 172 mph dead stock with only 345 hp.

One of the best sounding engines I've heard.

That was awesome! How do they handle in the turns say compared to a 911? In that corvette police chase thread I noticed it getting squirly in the turns losing the rear end a bit. I have never been in or driven a modern corvette, and am thinking about buying one. The only real sports car I have ever owned is a 996.

Air resistance increases exponentially with speed - a stock C7 Corvette only needs about 12 hp to run 60 mph, but its 460 hp is "only" good for 192 mph; that Hennessy C7 had 600 hp, and could probably eventually wind its way out to about 205-208 mph.

that thing is SAAWEEEEETTTTTTT. I am dying for some American muscle in my garage again. Not sure it will happen but I am torn between the new vette and the new Z28. I know two different beasts but they are both bad arse.

They offer two vettes. The Z is high performance with better set up for handling but the stock vette will out handle anything else GM puts out.
The nice thing about any new performance cars are the computers that aid you in how your handling and traction is put down.
I still don't like the tail lights but the car itself is amazing.

Now that is a vette I would consider owning and driving.

Hennessey is basically holding the steering wheel with one hand the entire time, as he hold the nitrous button with this left. I don't know that I could relax enough to do that.

I shouldn't have said the only sports car I have ever owned, I forgot I had a 2004 Mustang Cobra, built and had 601hp, than thing was a beast! No way it would out turn my 996 though. I do miss the SLP sound and the straight line pull!!!

Your vette is SICK!!!

I think it would possibly do more as I think it has 6 speeds and I never saw him go to 6th gear

The C7 actually has a 7 speed manual. The top gear is an overdrive and sixth may be too. I have not driven one yet.

The high speed runs in the past with the C5 were made in 5th gear (C5 had a six speed with sixth being overdrive).

Actually 5th, 6th & 7th gears are all overdrives (4th is 1:1). It is geared to do 203 mph in 5th and 306 mph in 7th - but that takes about 2,200 hp.
