Default Anyone interested in a forum called "finance"

Trying to see if there is any interest in a forum sticky called 'Finance' or 'Money', or whatever. A place to post stock and finance information.

I know some of you aren't interested in reading anything about finance so if it had it's own forum sticky you can choose to not look at it.

Please say if you are interested.

Thanks Russ

While I don't have two pennies to rub together, I'm still intersted in what those with a couple bucks do with their money. Also, should I ever muster up a couple bucks it would be nice to bounce some ideas off some folks who know a thing or two.

I'd be interested as well. I have a basic understanding but, by no means, would I consider myself really knowledgable.

As for the idea of going to a financial forum, I've done that a couple of times. Want to talk about condescending? On one I asked for recommendations for books and got everything from "you can't learn anything from books" to "if you need to ask, you shouldn't be here" type responses. Apparently, you need to have a finance PhD from Harvard before you can participate.

Why the need for all the sub forums? I like coming to dockside and getting the mix of topics, I will read the gun and finance topics but if they had there own forums I probably wouldn't go in. One of the things I like most about tht is the limited amount of forums. As an example the boating forum could be subdivided into about 4 sub forums but it would dilute the feedback IMO

I agree with this. Unless you only look at New Posts, no one visits every subforum. I like the mix of subjects in Dockside the way it is.

Russ, go to seeking alpha, investopedia, or (lefties favorite) bloomberg. Seeking alpha is my personal favorite, and investopedia has a ton of info. Mötley fool is good for the basics and they have cool charts and "top 50" lists, but the articles are annoying and they are constantly trying to up sell. I love lists like "top fifty stocks trading at 52 week low".

Dockside is a good mix, and they will never add a finance section here. I would definitely frequent it if they did.

Rival1 pretty much nailed it. The simplified layout is what makes THT so easy to browse.

Hell no, I can't even get a "cruising" forum on this site. Plus, what would we do if someone comes on here pumping stocks, telling everyone to "bet the farm". Go to Yahoo finance, lots of info over there.

^^^^^^
Oh this doesn't happen already? We don't need a sub forum for folks to pump stocks!

I've made money from some of them I must admit.

You don't take away what is good about a forum; you take away what is bad.

In the past year or so this forum has changed into a hate forum. I've watched senior members drop like flies around here taking their volumes of knowledge with them. I've watch how the personal attacks on people has grown and I’ve watched how personal attacks on the African American community are now allowed, hell I've even watched the mods lead the attack on some individuals. I’ve watched people get banned from the bilge and people get banned from using PM’s. I’ve watched this site turn to what some call a Nazi camp.

It's not a financial forum that this site needs, the problems are far greater than that. This site hasn't really worked properly for probably over a year if not two years and yet nothing changes. I would say changes need to be made, but it’s not adding something that its very essence will further destroy the fabric of this site. When you continually take away topics from dockside the only thing that can remain is scrap(s). Bad topics need buffering so they are not as concentrated.

The above is the only reason why I was so outspoken on keeping sports in dockside chat. Sports is need back in dockside chat along with the foods topics, trailer and vehicle topics. Dockside Chat has become overly saturated with hate topics.
