Huh? There is nothing there except a Blowfish logo.

http://www.blowfishlife.com/kickstarter.html

That's a better link.

Good idea, but it looks like where he's got it mounted, it will stop my rods from going in my rod holders. Mount it any higher and it gets in the way of the grip. Have him upload some videos of him fighting a fish with it in place.

What's the market? How many rods per year do people lose overboard?

And Ronn's correct - there is no good place to mount it.

What is the maintenance interval?

The sexual innuendo is patently sophomoric; and just plain stupid. He should remove it from advertising.

I don't think this thing is going very far. Love the gumption, but not the product.

I'm out.

Also, what weight will it support? No way that little baggie is surfacing a 50 VSW, which are the only rods I tether anyway.

jeez guys here is a young kid who is trying to fix a problem and coming up with something that is a good idea might not be perfect at 1.0 but I am sure it will be refined over time when it gets to 3.0 version.

Which is precisely why I gave his uncle some things to think about for 3.0.

And we are doing him a fantastic, and free, service by forthrightly critiquing his product.

Business isn't rainbows and cotton candy. You invest your soul, so you better have the best, and broadest, info available.

I'm not knocking HIM; I am giving him some things to consider about his product. In plain and direct words.

What he does with the information is up to him.

The rod in the picture is a 50 Tiagra, it may need modification to handle more weight. I am not sure. You dont' constantly have to unhook the tether and if you drop while moving around, you are covered.

It won't work if your fighting a decent sized fish and drop the rod.

I'm fairly certain that's a TLD and not a Tiagra in the video. Have him get some more video's with gold VSW's or LRSA's to put people's mind at ease as well as spinning combos. Also have him show some pics of them in rod holders with the devise on, as I'm sure no one wants to have to attach one of those every time they take their rod out of their holders.

He should also consider what Al said. The marketing is poor at this point, but can easily change. The need is what he needs to focus on. In all my years of fishing, I've lost one rod/reel overboard (spinning combo). It came out of the rocket launchers while I was removing a rod beside it. Just like I don't tether all my rods all the time, I can't see myself using one of these on my setups all the time, especially if they don't fit in my holders.

The valve body and tablet housing need to be engineered down; they are simply too big.

Look toward getting them smaller, and then integrating them into the handle, or into a small module that mounts beneath the reel. Looking for a rod manufacturer to partner with might be worthwhile.

You could have it clip onto the rod, just above the top of the foregrip, attaching at two points between there and the first eye.

You would have to design a universal clip mount, but that's not too difficult.

Shrink the design. Shrink the design. Shrink the design.

Look at bladder material - does it need to / have to be the yeller nylon stuff? Some rubber type material, vacuum sealed, would make it smaller.

Shrink the design. Shrink the design. Shrink the design.

Need to deal with that canister too after you shrink the design. Something inside the butt of the rod would be nice. I can see Shimano now marketing their new "unsinkable" rod....

X2 Nice to see a young guy coming up with something. Could be interesting following this guy to see what else he comes up with. Product may be useful if you bring young kids onto the boat for a little bay fishing provided the price point works......

I am not taking seriosuly any business who's slogan is "Blowing your rod soon". Ergo, I never looked beyond that.

Also, call this post for what it is, an attempt to raise money through kickstarter, thinly disguised spam in my opinion.

A larger unit won't fit. That is why I suggested engineering it down so that it would fit inside the rod handle, or below the reel (rectangular).

You should think past your inability to comprehend what you read.

Edit: maybe you can read and comprehend.

Here is an idea for the young man. Based on your idea, which is good however, like other have said, too cumbersome. How about making a rod where the bladder pops out of the rod butt? It will be out of the way, you can up-sale your product with adding the rod to the price.
Just a thought.
Good Luck

WOOPS!!!!!!! These guys are stinkin mind readers. They just type faster then me
