Look I understand no political stuff here in dockside, but the health care law is a very real and serious piece of legislation that needs to be discussed and reviewed, Along with all of the info coming out about it now that it is hitting the light of day.
A lot of people don't frequent the bilge so would miss any discussions.

Stop moving the healthcare posts there.

If someone posts a political post then delete that post. I understand you can police every thread so as soon as you see something you toss it down there, but that is also like saying kids can't bring guns to school, so when I child makes a gun with his hand he is held to the same repercussions.

But the healthcare law is too important to everyone on this board to not have it discussed dockside.

That would require hiring at least 5 more mods to monitor just that one thread.

In general informative post that are of interest to most are allowed especially when they concern fishing and boating but when the post turn from information to political it no longer has a place in dockside.

So why not delete the offending poster? Why penalize the original poster and all the guys responding and abiding by the rules. I have had the same thing happen to some of my posts, I have no control over who responds to it, but you do.

Frankly there are to many members that are incapable of following the rules and baby sitting a single thread is to time consuming for the few volunteers that moderate this forum.

As long as nobody is complaining or pushing the mommy button, then why not just let it roll?

If no one was complaining or pushing the mommy button then it might fly under the radar at least for a time but that did not happen.

I've followed the thread closely and have yet to see anything controversial or offensive. If thats the case, someone needs to put on their big boy panties and act like an adult. Jeez what a bunch of freakn crybabys

I would love to see the mommy button made public, that is to see what member pushed it. I bet you would see very few pushes.

I've asked the mods a few times now why we can't have a political section (not the bilge) where constructive conversation and debate were the word of the day. Each time it was shot down, from what I was told the owners don't want political debate on the forum (I may be mis stating this a little). I even offered to moderate the "political forum threads" myself, only deleting offenders of the rules. Didn't get very far. Oh well.

People were pushing the button.

No, a button mash does not automatically bilge a thread. We tell people to harden up all the time.

I agree, you won't find me in the bilge for whatever reason.

I'm sure IB would be happy if our children didn't know how to count either, so they didn't have to declare a tie at every debate and send it south.

Weeding out the pretenders is a fact of life that hasn't made its way to the internet yet. Until then, I guess the Mods will have to send everything to the bilge, as long as those who's undies fasten with Velcro have a say.

We generally do not tell people in public to do so other then in the bilge sometimes.

It is usually in a PM because they reported a post.
