Default Printer advise please

Looking for a wired/wireless printer/scanner/copier. Any recommendations for a college student?

No but in general having separate devices usually works out better. A flat bed scanner and a color laser jet usually can handle most home office type jobs including fax and copy. You can produce very professional documents with that setup.

Personal choice...I'd go the other way around. My Epson workforce 545 does everything so I'm not having to find a lot of extra space to put components. It copies, prints, scans and faxes, wireless or wired and it has been doing everything great for 2+ years now with only ink and paper changes. Photo quality when needed. Easy to operate and pretty cheap too...m.02...

I bought a Brother about 6 months ago. Prior to that I had always bought HP but was talked into this one by 2 different people. It has been great. Easy to set up, always works and the printer cartridges are relatively inexpensive.

Bring on the "Brother" jokes.

Thanks guys. Definetly buying a wired with wireless capabilities. Good info on the Brother brand. I was looking at the Epson on Amazon, the Brother also.

Go to Walmart and pick a 39 dollar printer,
they print fax and copy, all you ever need.

I have a couple of inexpensive Brother multi function machines. For college it would be perfect.

If you can get away with color scanning and B&W only printing you will save yourself a lot of money on supplies - color laser supplies are pricey. I have one of these Brother MFC-7860DW's http://www.brother-usa.com/MultiFunc...w#.Uks0xzbD-po at home and it is fantastic.
I also have a Brother color printer ( http://www.brother-usa.com/Printer/M...w#.Uks14TbD-po ), but if I were a college student and only needed color printing a few times a month I would do it at Staples.

Brother printers rock! I would go laser as it's cheaper and more reliable. Does she have to have color? I only recommend business grade hardware as "personal" printers are complete garbage. I just set up a Hl2280 I believe for a buddy of mine who owns a business and it works well.

I had a similar experience. I bought HP's for years and switched to a Brother almost 2 years ago. I'm keeping this printer for a long time.

The toner is expensive (4 toner cartridges for a color laser) but after the initial starter one they last pretty long.
