Sir Isaac Newton:
"A Body in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted on by an outside force."

This video clearly illustrates that even with lights and sirens ....Newtons first law of motion still pertains.

They will figure out a way its not there fault to get out of it or will just move the driver/cop to Fla.
You can get drunk crash docks, and get hurt, down there and be praised for being a LEO.

The operator of that MPD Boat just ruined his cushy spot on that detail. He will likely be working 3-11 shift in the ghetto for the remainder of his career.

"A Washington, DC Police boat was making a simple U-turn on the Potomac River near the historic Georgetown neighborhood "

Apparently not!

But after turning the case over to the dept of justice its been deternmed there was no posted speed limits in the area involving the crash so the officer was returned to duty after being put on paid leave till the investigation was concluded.

I can't wait for the "throttle control malfunction" investigation.

MPD is hard on their officers with stuff like this. He/She will get a suspension without pay once the dog and pony show investigation is done. It appears the Officer screwed up and he is going to pay. He will likely lose pay and his good position at the Harbor Branch unless he is doing the Chief or Assistant Chief

Why didn't he immediately chop the throttles and come around? Looks like he was having a 5 second "wtf have I done" moment.

Spillied coffee, mixed with trace amounts of donut sugar is a well documented and known cause of DTS malfunctions.

On a more serious note-Some throttles are very sensitive and an inadvertent movement of reaching for a radio, etc and brushing the throttle could be one explaination, especially if a cell phone is in use.

Either that or looked to me like he may have been trying to decide whether to even return or not.

BTW, I see the Watergate in the background. Did the crash happen in front of Sequoia's? I love that restaurant!

Not trying to convince you of anything. You clearly have your mind made up. I've seen plenty of coworkers go without ten days of pay for a minor on duty traffic crash. This is far worse and there is video of it.

this will get swept away...

do us all a favor, you're clearly a cop,why don't you get a copy of the incident report, and post it up ??

prove your point, think you can do that ??

minor traffic crash huh ? cop at fault ? get a ticket ? cop on their cell phone/texting ??
you really think if this happened and no one was around, the cop would've stopped ?? - looked pretty clear to me,he was considering running away...

if that was a civilian, operating a boat like that, exactly what do you think would've occurred ? tickets ?? again, show us all the incident report, show me where a guy clearly guilty of reckless operation, excessive speed and unsafe operation - show me he received a few tickets, well deserved tickets too...lights were on right ?? you don't think that would be the excuse given do you ?? nah, that couldn't happen, right ?? the driver,he was on his way to a call, probably something really important too, mabey the sarge@the dcok was out of coffee ???
again, show us all the incident report, then,i'll gladly apologize, till that point in time,i'll stick to what I know to be the behavior ANY police department, that would be answer to no one,we're above the law...
