Costa sunglasses

I've read so many complaints about Costa and their repair service on this and other forums. I just want to share my experiences with them.
I've owned just about every brand of sunglasses marketed as "fishing sunglasses". I'm extremely hard on them- if a pair lasts more than a couple months, they're OK in my book.
Bought a pair of Costa Corbinas in 2010. 580G Blue Mirror. I knew the first time I wore them on the water they were superior to any other brand. Pricey? Yes, but worth every penny. Broke a lens in 2011. They fell onto the deck of my boat while landing a 40 pound cobia solo. They got batted around the deck by the cobia and once I had the cobe in the fish box, retrieved my Costas and a lens was broken. Sent them in for repair. 118 dollars and less than 10 days later, a brand new pair was in my mailbox. Seems there was something wrong with the frames, so they just replaced the pair. This was in 2011.
Keep in mind I wear them everywhere. I work construction and wear them at work. (Gasp!)
Fast forward to July 8 this year. Glasses fell off my head while working and I stepped on them! Back to Costa, again, for new lenses. They again determined there was an issue with the frames that would be fixed under warranty. Another $118 and less than 10 days they were back to me- another brand new pair.
At this point I have 493+ dollars in my sunglasses. That's three brand new pairs for less than two at retail prices.
So, the moral of this longwinded story is this- Costa makes the best fishing sunglasses out there, they stand behind their product and do what they can to keep their customers happy. I will never buy another brand of sunglasses- and with Costa's repair policy I may never have to. A big THANK YOU to everyone at Costa. Keep up the good work.

Same reason I trashed my costa's. $118 for repair that's stupid. Now I wear Smiths Optics. Interchangeable lenses. Mine came with 3 spare sets. $119. Costa's might be nice sunglasses but just aren't durable. I also had an issue with 2 different pars of Costa's with the rubber deterating of the ear piece. Called and tried to get a new pair because there was a flaw but had to send in for repair anyway. No new glasses just a 118 bill for repair. That's crap. No mo Costa's for me

I wear my costas everyday. The stem fell out of my harpoon that I purchased in '05. 7 business days and $11.00 later I had a brand new pair. They just replaced my dad's for $40. That's good customer service in my book.

I damaged my Costas last month, had them since 2010, and I sent them to Costa for repair. Cost me $11.00 and they also sent me a new case with the replacements. Lifetime warranty and no questions asked repairs just pay for shipping. Can't beat it!

What I'm sayin is that Costa decided to send me TWO brand new pairs for 118 each- can't beat that. Are the Smith Optics glass lenses? Plastic lenses are no good for me- they scratch too easily.

I shattered a lens on my blackfins.. new lenses for $99... Thats fine what concerns me is that i was looking to buy another pair and spent an hour looking.. I was a little dissappointed at the overall finish quality i saw on numerous pairs.. where they mold together the plastic and rubber quality was low some peeling or speration already occuring with a rand new pair.. Also many pairs have the spring hinges they had quite a bit of slop in them even new and in my opinion would easily be the break point after wearing them.. I had picked out some jose's and ultimately passed after looking closely

Just got my Man o' Wars back. Rubber on temples and nosepiece had started to come off and split. Covered under warranty and just got back yesterday. Turnaround was around 10 days from when they received them. No complaints with the service, and the glasses look great.

Well it happened. I just lost a week old pair of Jose's that I bought while my other pair were being replaced.
Based on this thread I called Customer Service spoke to a very nice lady named Tammy, but was informed that there was nothing they could do to help me!
Just venting, but if I ran Costa I think I may have offered something (even a $10 credit). Oh well I'm out. Definitely going to try another brand.
Just my experience and .02 cents

Costas are the YETI of the sunglass world.
There are better options at a lesser price point but you don't get to put that super cool sticker on your truck.

I'll stick with my Amazon cheapo's, that way I can just prime them and have a new pair in a day if I snap the frames or ruin a lens with a big scratch or something. I can get 10 pairs or more for the price of one set of Costa / Oakley etc.
Of course i'm not super picky about eye wear, and find no massive issue with visibility thru the cheapo poly lenses either. Although as has been stated here above, I don't get to proudly advertise for the company and proclaim my wealth through sporting the Costa/MJ/Oakley etc et al. logos

I bought a pair of Costas on eBay for about $90, and have over the years had them replaced three times under "warranty" after I broke them and sent them off for service. Never paid more than about $25 including shipping, and got a brand new pair each time.

I like the Costa lenses for sure. But I sure do hate the soft plastic they use on the frames. It eventually peels or disintegrates.
