Default Elliot - Deadliest Catch - Thumbs Up or Down?

Big thumbs down from me. Personally, I can't stand him. I want to break the TV when he is on.

here are some of my issues:

How the hell did he get the million dollar + loan for the boat? What bank gave that to him?

When he talks about his "girl" troubles he comes across as mentally unstable. I am talking like a serious mental disorder. He is on TV talking about "putting bullets in heads, etc." He goes from love to hate to love at the drop of a hat. he wants to marry a girl that is cheating on him while he is on the boat. she has a guy living in his house!

I recall one episode that he turned off his AIS and said what he was doing on TV! isn't that illegal? why isn't the Coast Guard shutting him down?

He cries like a girl.

His boat is listing from the ice while it has a full stack on and while he is operating on 50% of 1 of his engines (the other is completely dead) and he says it isn't bad and does not give a crap! His crew does and does something about it and then he wants to fire them for questioning/talking about it. Also, the caption states he was "told" the motors had 12K hours SMOH (not that much for continuous rated motors). did he but the boat without a survey/engine analysis or service documentation? again, what bank gave this loan!

I know it is TV and there is nothing really "reality" about it anymore, but I think he is just unwatchable and brings the show down worse. what say you!

I know this is a long post and I really do not have that much love for the show anymore, but my kid is away at camp and my wife is watching her DVR shows such as Housewives of _____, and I am bored shitless

A lot of the footage I feel is taken out of context for entertainment, but he does seem to take a lot of risks that the more seasoned skippers wouldn't like pulling pots in a heavily beaming sea.

I'm actually friends with Nick on Cape Caution. More friends with his dad Bruce who has been a crabber his whole life. You won't see Bruce on TV. Bruce pulled Nick out of school at 12 and put him to work on the Bering sea.
There both good people.

I really do not mind the guy. He does some juvenile things but he seems to be fair to his peers. That Scott Campbell kinda hosed him out there last season or this televised one. They were supposed to be working together and the douche effed him.

He also seems to care for the ex enough to appear to really be trying. However any guy who's dating a one that as I understood it perhaps mistaken was boofing another guy while Elliot was out at sea in his own house

Again this as I understood it perhaps mistaken.

He then gets a hold of someone to meet him at the airport with a ring and wants to propose to her.

Young and not so smart. Maybe some other things going on as well.

That Keith Coburn from the Wizard is a real douche for treating the green horn the way he did for not wanting to fratboy up and have his head shaved.

Went so far as to tell him because the rest of the crew respected him so much that it was only thing ensuring his safety while on his boat and that he could not guarantee his safety once he left the boat. I think Keith used to get pushed around a bit when he was a younger. Usually the guys that talk the way he does in a position of authority have had a tough stretch earlier in life.

I would have loved to seen that green horn tell him the same when he was off his own boat.

I stuck up for that dickhead the one season when they were around the fire and the Hillstrand brothers were poking at him. Now I wish they would have made him where his azz as a hat.

agreed about Keith, I don't like him either. Junior is a scumbag too. However, they don't make me sick the way Elliot does

Elliott def seems to have issues. I also wonder how he pulled off the boat loan. One thing though, he seems to be a decent fisherman

he may be a decent fisherman but it appears that he is a poor excuse for a Captain.

I have a real dislike for Keith and the Wizard crew. They treat the green horns like shit and drive an otherwise good hard working guy to the breaking point. Don't these ass holes ever learn that in the end it only makes their jobs that much harder. For the record I did not see the last horn, think is was Dane as a problem, only the ass wipe Keith and his crew. Just my opinion.

I've got to agree his life is like a slow motion train wreck. If he was really trying with his ex he wouldn't be screwing around with another girl on the side and then making that s### public on tv. Seems too scripted...
I definitely agree with magua on the Capt. Keith with the green horn. I though his conversation with him that started with "Freddy wants to give you a mohawk you don't look too interested" made him look childish when he tried to guilt the kid into doing it. I've got to give that kid a thumbs up. It seems all he wanted to do was work and mind his own business but I guess that doesn't make good TV

its funny the way the producers have spun this episode. the timeline probably went more like first he was going to propose then later he found about the dude living in his house....
he is nerve wracking
i think he is funny

Keith is kind of a db but damn does he catch some crab. His deckhands make buko bucks. His approach doesn't seem to be popular with the rest of the fleet though (they call him a "farmer" because he throws out so many pots).

I can't remember, on the last season did Junior screw Keith, or did Keith screw Junior when they were paired up? I think it was Keith. A few of them always seem to be trying to screw each other.

Junior screw everybody. Liked him better last season but I think this makes the point that the producers try to swing opinions

See my post above could'nt agree with you more. Keith is a douche.

That Dane guy kept his nose clean did not argue with anyone and worked from what I could see as hard as any green horn I saw breakout.

The other douche that was throwing sh!t at him and badgering him should have had is azz kicked. I mean effed him up.

I remember my uncle telling me about a day he was working at a stamping plant Big 3 won't say which one way back in the day where a company man was effing with some guy who was really working pretty hard but had a beef with him. Always on the guy riding him day in and day out. Now mind you my uncle said the floor would shake and it was LOUD in the plant with all those presses. One day someone found the company man laying on the floor knocked out with a massive contusion on his head during a short break.

He told me the guy with the banged up head ran to the office with his tail between his legs and begged for a transfer.
