Default New boat..to me.

Sold my Blackfin a few months ago, decided I needed a replacement project. 1979 Stamas clearwater hardtop. Will repower, rewire, re everything. Built like a tank, everything accessible, huge cockpit. Perfect DIY project...I do EVERYTHING myself.

Existing SBC is old and raw water cooled..not even gonna try to start it. Replacement will be roller lifter 350, "D" dish pistons, vortec heads, 600 cfm Holley, fresh water cooled. Just can't make myself install a speed density injection system with no ability to tinker.

Only unknown,,pre-alpha 1.5 drive. Seems in decent shape, but I'll find out. My opinion is that with todays superior lubricants, what was once marginal is now more than adequate. However, my experience with I/O's is pretty limited. Seems like there are hardened/upgraded gears available. Also, do the external cooling systems really help??

Bill, nice score! I finally made a deal on a 1980 Stamas Sport Cruiser that I'd been looking at. 350/260hp merc I/O. I just love the lines on this boat! The boat is really clean and only needs some minor attention to inside details. I sea trial it on Thursday.
