Saying you have an ant problem is like saying you have a bird problem. You have to ID the species before you can figure what they are doing and why. Do you know what kind they are?

Whatever they are doing, once you administer Bifen, they will be dead.

They're piss ants, sugar ants, or whatever y'all call them in GA. They're looking for dry ground and if they can, they'll be in the house by the thousands.

At my house in GA, we spray Bifen IT and call them "dead" ants.

Will the Bifen piss off the chipmunks too? Those things are out of control also.
If they drink it, they will be dead also.

One of my properties is an older house on land with lots of vegetation...i.e. ant and termite heaven.

Slab construction. Termite guys have a contract, but tell me up front that ants don't read the rules the same as termites do. Something to do with what type of ant, maybe???

Anyway, all of my used motor oil now gets poured around the perimeter of the house and the cottage. Motor oil kills weeds, keeps ants from loving it, and termites don't seem to want to dig through it, either.

Don't talk to me about the EPA...they're still on my Band List for banning DDT.....

Pissants it looks like, but I'm not an entomologist. Bifenthrin will work on contact, but the scouts will die before delivering the goods back to the mothership. You have to break up the colony. Are you able to trace them back? Boric acid and sugar works for delivery.
Your original post says your house is all brick, but of course you have wood, either furring on the interior block or perhaps the house is just brick veneered? Then the walls are wood. See if you can track sawdust.

carpenter ants?
Holes should have been plugged as there are still the original "vents" consisting of no mortar in the vertical about every six feet down low.
Right?

in those holes and around the house where they are. So I'll give it a couple days and see what's up then. That should be about the time the Bifen arrives Then for whatever is still breathing it's go time
Arrive? Did you have to order it? Ortho Home Defense Max has bifenthrin. Not sure of the concentrate.

I think he was referring to the vertical vents in brick veneer siding to allow for airflow between the studded wall and the brick siding. If your house is solid brick you wouldn't have them.

I was there from 2000-2002. The first 12 months rocked, best fishing on earth, pristine tropical paradise, easy living. Then 9/11 happened, I was the Tower Chief there, we went from flip flops and board shorts to battle stations in the blink of an eye. 24 hours after planes hit the towers the first bombers were arriving. We went from our typical 4 flights a week that took people on an off the island via Singapore (most of the time), to working heavy traffic 24-7. I cleared the very first mission aircraft for take off, it was a hell of a time to be there. Not only did they have 24-7 military imports of munitions via C-5, C-17, C-141, etc, we also had contracted 747's, DC-10's, L-10-11's etc bringing them in full time as well. The Australians came up and provided an F-18 squadron for our air defense, we had Red Crown sea defense, and man did we pump. I was there when the B-1 crashed too. Crazy times. It was an amazing transition, to go from beach bars and colorful drinks with umbrellas sticking out of them, to no alcohol, no liberty, no nothing but mission at all times. We worked eve-day-mid-32 for 6 months straight. I was glad to leave when I did, but it truly was an experience of a lifetime!

We were also a reporting point for all the passing commercial traffic, and worked closely with Male, Mumbai, and Brisbane FIR's. Cool stuff.

Did you know a guy named "Birdie"? He was the guy shaking Colin Powells hand in the picture on the ATA web site? I heard he's at Air Maldives or someplace like that now....
