Yup, start breathing heavy, tell them you have your package in your hand and ask what they're wearing.

The 'do not call' has been a huge failure and the government knows it. Telemarketers use robo dialers which make it impossible to trace where the call is coming from. I read an on-line article several months ago that the gov has a 100,000 reward for anyone who can develop technology that will allow these calls to be traced.

I get them all the time too and I find them to be really irritating.

I get at least 2 calls per day to update my google listing. Never from the same number and always from an out of state number. the recording says press 9 to be removed from list,, but all that does is get them to hang up. usually call back the same day. tried pressin 1 for a rep, but only gets you a sales person that will hang up on you as soon as you say please stop calling. Over the years the higher gas prices get the less walk in sales people you see ,, and more by phone than ever,,

keep them on the phone as long as possible. act really interested then tell them you need time to think about it.
they hate that cause they work off sales commission, so the longer they are tied up the less calls they make. my record is 27 minutes. i even asked them to hold one time so i could get my wallet, set the phone down for about 5 minutes lol

Agree. I act real interested, them put them on hold for just a sec while I answer the door. put the phone down and forget about it.
Even if it is an outomated caller, this still ties up their phone and limits the number of outgoing. If millions of Americans would do this, it would cause a huge delay.
Govt do not call list does not work

The DNC List is far from a huge failure. While its not perfect I'd say 100% of good business use the list to scrub numbers off their call list. If the DNC list was never formed you would be getting 2 to 3 calls per hour. I'm in sales and while I hate these calls I also understand its some person on the other end of the line trying to make a living. Cold calling still works or no one would be doing it still today.

Dude, stop being such a downer, you're giving us Cali boys a bad vibe, lighten the f up. Do like I do, answer the phone, listen for a while, start breathing heavy, ask what they're wearing, tell them your package is in your hand and if you don't get help it's going to explode and hurt someone.

Or do this, keep them on the phone as long as possible. Tell them anything, tell them you're looking for your wallet, your wife is now pulling in the driveway and has the credit cards, the dog ate your plastic and is just now shitting out the last corner of your AMEX card and they'll have to wait or better yet, tell them the truth, you did your neighbors wife last night, he came home, you had to run and lost your pants in the bushes.

These people aren't the brightest bulb in the fixture and you're not going to stop it by getting pissed off so have some fun with it. I hope you find your pants and the neighbor lady's husband doesn't find out.

Go to the gov't do not call registry website and file a complaint:
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/com...k.aspx?panel=2
If they continue, you can sue in small claims court. I know a couple of folks who did and got $2500 settlements.

I'm about to ditch my land line. Can't remember the last time I answered it. With caller ID if I don't know the number I let it ring. If it's important they'll leave a message.

When they interrupt us at work, we pass them around to everyone in the office. We make them go through the entire spiel with each person. Each person more encouraging than the previous. Last person tells them we're not interested.

Takes about 20 -30 minutes. Lots of fun!

They wanna waste our time, we fight back!

I didn't realize people still even had land lines, huge waste of money.

Disconnect your home line and use only mobile. I pulled the plug about 8 months ago and love it.
