Default 960 GB SSD upgrade

Replaced my laptop HD with an SSD drive. Should have done it a year ago. 2011 MacBook Pro 17inch. The original drive was a 500TB 5400rpm. Replaced that last year with a 1TB 7200rpm. It was faster but the computer ran hotter and battery drain was huge. With the SSD drive battery life is 35-40% longer (over the 5400rpm), start up time is 8 seconds vs. 25. All programs open & save faster. Overall programs run anywhere from 2x to 5x faster. Biggest difference was in PS, iPhoto and Form Z

Yep, they are fast!

Just make sure you do consistent backups (you always do, right? ;-) ) because if it dies, there is NO way to get data recovered.

They have become very reliable tho
