Default Another Citizens Insurance rant.

I know most here have had major problems with Citizens Insurance. These people are probably the most inept, incompetent imbeciles I have ever dealt with. I bought a home in the Keys, 4 years ago. Of course my wind, flood and homeowners policy's have skyrocketed. When I bought I had a 6 point wind mitigation report done, (by the way, this report was done by the local building inspector who has a side business inspecting homes) After Citizens got the report they did lower my premium. Fast forward 2 years, Citizens sent their own inspector out and sent me a notice that my premium would increase $2500 a year for a total of $8500 just for wind.

Their reasoning, older roof, and no way to inspect wall to roof attachments. So in December I decided to have a new roof put on the house. I also had the secondary water barrier (peel and stick) I also had the roofer re-nail and screw all tongue and groove decking. I took many pictures while the roofers were doing it. I brought pizza every day for the roofing crew just so they didn't mind me coming up so often taking pics.

I also had them take off some of the decking so I could document the straps, as I do not have an attic. I submitted all the new photos proving strapping, secondary water barrier, and nailing. Long story short they never gave me credit for any of these. I called my agent again, they are just as frustrated as I am. She resubmitted all the photos again for the 3rd time. Well I got a new letter from Citizens yesterday giving me a credit for the strapping, but no credit for the secondary water barrier or the proof of nailing.

Called agent again this morning, she told me she will resubmit the photos of secondary water barrier. But she also told me that Citizens will not give me a credit for the nailing because the photos did not picture a tape measure in the photos proving how far apart the nails are, even though the photos show 3 nails per board.
I am hoping that this helps even one member here that is thinking about a new roof document the hell out of it. Also don't forget your tape measure
