Default Wife wants a "Non Fishing" Vacation, ideas?

OK, so last night we were talking about taking a vacation away from the Kids (2 and 7 months), and getting away from like a Wednesday through a Sunday, somewhere inside the US. She wants me to stay away from fishing, but we both love the coast. So far, ideas from my end are, Key West, Boston, or somewhere in the Carolina's. We would be going sometime in October, but are open to other times of the year as well.

Let's hear any other ideas anyone else may have

Thanks

In SC I'd either hit Litchfield or Pawleys.......we just got back last weekend, always a good trip.

Otherwise, I'd consider Blowing Rock, NC.......The Highlands or some other nice place in the mountains.

If you like to drive:

1 - LA to San Fran
2 - Boston to Bar Harbor
3 - San Fran - Yosemite

October would be a good time to watch the leaves change. Newport, RI. You'll have the ocean, leaves changing and a lot of big old houses to look at.

Send her to the west coast while you fish the east or vise versa.

Blueridge Parkway in October is very colorful. The nights are cool the days warm.

Is exactly what I was going to say, and what triggered it in my mind was 'October' that is the best time of the year to visit. 5 Days is just enough too.

This is my view in Oct.

Gotta love the Smokies. Apalachicola is nice that time of year, fewer people, very coastie, laid back , lots to see and eat, bed and breakfast is the way to go.... Very relaxing

But then you'd be in the keys without the option if fishing. That's would be enough to drive me bananas.

I like the wine country idea.

When we've gone to wine country, (daughter lives in Pleaston, CA) coming from the "green" part of the world (FL and TN) , all I can say is dang!, geography shock... brown is the only color. Way too stark for me... and I come from NM.

... just sayin'

Key West is the front runner right now, any ideas on houses or hotels to stay at? I'm thinking get a Jeep or convertible in Miami and drive down, just to do it, spend Wednesday through Sunday there

Why on earth would you vacation if not for fishing?
