Default M-80/cherry bombs

IF I had any i would be very low on them. But I don't have any.

The guy's I used to know don't have any more either.

I guess I will have to put on a recording of the sound.

Anyone else not have any left?

Yep, bunch of party poopers. Up until a few years ago you could scrounge the i-net for the ingredients but they poo poo that now too. You can still buy two part flash powder but I imagine your delivery man would be in a black suit instead of a brown uniform. I remember Willards at NMB had em two for a nickel when I was a kid. Man we had some fun with those things.

I believe since the mid sixty's they have been illegal, but I think you could still get them in Mexico

If I still had any (which I don't) they would have been stored in a airtight container with a desicant to keep them dry. And they would be 15 years old, if I had any (which I don't).

True dat! You can still get all kinds of blow-yerself-to-pieces fireworks in Mexico. Watch out for the local made ones; basically a triangle of tightly wrapped newspaper with a fuse in one corner. Those things are like a stick of dynamite and dangerous as all get out -- you never know how fast the fuse is going to burn.

This from awhile back: The kids were actually emptying out M-80s and such to make one gigantic boomer when they exploded.

Vacationers in Mexico Hurt in Fireworks Explosion

Kids playing with fireworks get seriously injured

ROCKY POINT, MEXICO - Parents are reminded to talk to their kids about explosives, after a spring break explosion in Rocky Point sends five valley teenagers to the hospital.
Those teenage boys were playing with fireworks when the explosion happened. Their injuries so bad they had to be flown back to Phoenix to be treated.
Authorities say the boys were setting off fireworks inside of a condo, which sparked a massive explosion.
That sent pieces of a granite countertop, glasses shards from the bay window, and scrap metal from the dishwasher flying through the air.
"We were on the back patio and we could see the smoke and stuff coming out of there," says Terry Woodward, who was staying at the same resort. He rushed over to help after hearing the explosion.
"Then some lady says 'my babies my babies!'... we just took off running."
The boys, ages 13 to 17, were staying with their parents at the Sonoran spa when it happened. They were rushed to Ajo and flown to Maricopa Medical for surgery.
We don't know their current conditions, but we do know one of them lost a finger. Doctors say they will recover from their injuries -- no doubt learning a tough lesson.

Believe it or not these will crack a residential throne...

I gave some to a guy one time and he decided to light one on flush it down the toilet in his single wide trailer, broke the toilet, flooded the trailer and then he was pissed at me because I did not warn him....

They can still be had. They're easy to make. I used to buy them $.75 apiece in the bathroom in middle school. Incidentally, the guy I bought them from is serving a very long jail sentence for something completely unrelated.

Any firework in a little red tube that says m80 is not a real m80.

On another unrelated note, I am not allowed to possess any fireworks (per the admiral) due to an unfortunate incident involving me on a roof and very large mortars being launched from the incorrect tube. There was a large crowd of people underneath me (people i summoned to watch the fireworks) that wound up very unhappy. Luckily no one was seriously hurt.

Those were the days.

One of the m80s referenced above was flushed down a middle school bathroom toilet. And it did more than crack it. The bathroom was shut down for weeks and thousands of dollars of repairs were made. My (convicted felon) m80 connection used quality waterproof wicks and it made its way under the floor before detonating.

I was not the person that flushed it, for the record.

Those were the days.

And some of the reasons they're illegal today. And for the record, I DID flush it. Just another expensive learning experience ...

We used to get them in the 70's I believe they came from n carolina.
We called em barrel bombs and they were silver and packed one hell of a whallop!
We would take half a gross apart and make stuff you wouldn't want to be anywhere near today. By the way, here, around boston, they have those flashing roadsigns up EVERYWHERE. they say " WARNING fireworks illegal Possible fines and jailtime", I think since the marathon bombers are reported to have made their crap out of fireworks, the state has decided to take the laws,(which have been widely ignored, by residents and law enforcment alike for decades) very seriously this year . Sad really . just one more friggen thing that used to be fun that you can no longer do.

A number of years ago I found some 1/4 sticks in a bag by the side of the road.

Looked like an M80, just 3 times as big. Holy Crap! We had a good 4th that year.

Would really like to have some more of those.

Used to go to Chinatown in the early 80s and buy pineapples (think 10x the size of an M-80)......brought a bunch back to college that fall......hehehehehehehe did we have fun. The sound of one of those going off in a 4-sided courtyard at 2am was something to behold. They'd leave a 6" deep, 2' wide crater behind. Big fun.

But alas, we don't know how to have fun these days so pineapples and the like are long gone.

These can be fun. They sell them in strings of 16, 100, 200, 600, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, 16000...etc.

I was headed to South Carolina a few years ago with a couple hundred bucks set aside for a sting of 16000. Unfortunately, I was driving a porsche and it just simply wouldn't fit. So I bought a string of 8000.

Several weeks later, some tourists were having a party a couple blocks from my house. Something happened when my buddy and I went by the house that pissed us off. So we decided to sneak down there and set off the string...lol

We were in full on stealth mode, sneaking through the neighborhood wearing all black. We got into the side yard of the house and pulled out the string. It was at least 20 feet long. As we were laying it out, some drunk guy comes up and talks to us...at first we probably looked like a deer in the headlights...but this guy was drunk. He chatted about something absurd for a minute, then stumbled into the bushes to take a piss.

We got it laid out and lit a cigarette. We pulled the filter off the cigarette and stuck the fuse into the end...then ran down the street. We got about 2 blocks away and found a dark place to hide where we still had a pretty direct line of sight.

That thing started popping! After about 3 minutes of it popping, the whole party was standing outside looking at it, trying to figure out what to do! People were yelling and running around! Some people were cheering! The whole string lasted about 5 minutes or so, but that is a VERY LONG 5 minutes!!!

The cops were there about the time it stopped popping! You could see the blue lights flashing from a mile away because of all the smoke it produced!

I think we laughed the whole way home!!
