Default Tuxedo question for wedding

Sorry for all of these questions, but I like to fish and don't know bout these things.

Should the Tux on the groom be different than all of the groomsman?
Does it matter

Traditionally - Yes.

Will anyone actually notice - probably not.

If they do notice there is a 99.9% probability that person is gay so you decide if it's important.

It can really go either way.. I wore the same as my groomsman, but I had a slightly different cut in the jacket - not tails or anything, but it was just different. Silk on the collar where my groomsman didn't or something..

You'd have to ask my wife! LOL

The crazy thing about it is the rental price. I just got fitted for my daughters wedding, $125.00 to wear clothes that just come off someone else's @ss. I paid the extra

My son just got married April 24th.

He and the "best man" and 2 groomsmen all wore the same style TUX (jacket/vest/slacks) - my son just wore a different style shirt/tie and different colored vest than the others.

I think it's nice for the groome to look "different" from the other groomsmen - so the BRIDE won't get confused and kiss the WRONG GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's also "nice" to "coordinate" the colors of the tie/vest with those of the bride and bridesmaids - looks good in the wedding pics!

I HATE "black, laceup" SHOES, but they are a "necessary evil" for the groome, "best man", and groomesmen! I won't wear those again 'til my daughter gets married (I offered her $10K if she elopes and goes to Vegas to get married!)!

Regards,

same tux okay, different flower in lapel to differentiate from groomsmen

i was in a building 19 (there are six or so in the massachusetts area...close outs, remaindered stuff, all kinds of merchandise)six months before i got re-hitched....i found a whole rack of decent tuxedos the day before they were advertised in their weekly flier.....got a nice tux for 165 bucks.....i've worn it twice, so i'm already ahead of the rental game....i just hope it still fits the next time i need it!

how come you can rent a $15,000 automobile for less than a $200 suit?

because they have you by the balls and they know it......you HAVE to wear a tux.

i got married in aug. 03 and i'm a groomsman next month.....i have no idea about the differences.....never noticed or paid attention.

I still get a raft of s&*t from my wife about me renting a tux for our wedding (that was 14 years ago) instead of buying one...even worse about the rental shoes...if you rent 3 or 4 times then you're up to what it would cost to buy one...so next time I need a tux I'm going to buy one and then I'll have it....even if I have to start looking for events to wear it to....but you can always use a basic black suit....

edit....to answer your question....It's OK for the groom to have the same tux as the others but I think it's better to be a little different...

I’m like the others; I don’t think anyone would notice. First off, the guys are drooling to get a look at the bride’s legs when the garter comes off and the women are criticizing the bride’s dress and talking trash about the bride’s maids. The only reason the groom is even there is because the bride said so………………..I don’t think it is going to matter…….

well, that, and he figures he has a pretty good chance of getting laid that night if he shows up in his tux, and depending on the reception, he might have the oportunity to drink some beer too.

First response "will only notice if they are gay"

second response

"you can go either way on this..."

This thread just reminded me of a groomsmen prank we played on a highschool buddy at his wedding. Each of us put the name of a girl he had banged on the inside of our tux jackets. As the groom stood at the alter facing the crowd and approaching groomsmen, each groomsman would open his jacket right as he passed the groom and let him see the name of his conquest. We were wheezing by the time we lined up. He finally burst into laughter but the crowd assumed it was only nerves.........even the priest started to laugh since he saw the whole thing. Man that was a funny wedding.

holly crap, that is great, a friend of mine got married about a month ago, and the groomsmen, with the exception for the brides brother, did the same thing, but with golfballs, wrote the old flames names on the various balls. her brother handed him a ball too, however he didn't know about the prank. funniest part was when the brides mom tried to make him give them to her before pics were taken.

cheesewithout.....

Different look for the groom? No worries! He'll be the one with that "deer in the headlights" expression.

This is what women LIVE for, They will cackle on endlessly about the possibilities.
Let her and her friends decide what everybody wears,
Anything you decide will be wrong.

Once this burning issue is resolved,
will you be needing advice accessorizing the living room?

Can pale earthtones really coexist harmoniously with a bold throw pillow?

Do you find yourself using words like "soulmate" in everyday conversation?

Do you want to borrow my .45, or will you just jump in front of a bus?

When I got married my bride to be kept trying
to get me involved in the minutia of planning this
crime against nature. I eventually told her to just let
me know where and when to show up. We're hitting the
20 year mark this Fall. For the life of me, I can't figure out
why she puts up with me.
