Default Got the "Finger" heading to dinner...

Took my wife to the local indoor gun range yesterday afternoon, along with my BIL and his wife. Had a great time, went thru about a LOT of ammo and generally had a great time.

So we're headed to dinner, wife and I in my SUV and BIL and his wife in his F250. Cruising thru suburbia on a major 6 lane road and this 300 pound a$$hole rolls buy with the window down, screaming his head off, arm waving out the window like its on fire and flipping us the bird?!?! We hadn't cut anyone, cruising with traffic (typical stoplight to stoplight stuff). WTF!

We're in the left lane, a-hole is in the middle, BIL is behind us. BIL sees what's transpiring and pulls in behind A-hole, runs up to his bumper, hits the high beams and lays on the horn. A-holes attention is now on someone else. He has his head out the window dropping F bombs like they've gone out of style. So i join in the fun, and lay on my horn. Poor guy can't hear himself think (he's driving a little ricer)!! LMAO

Still not sure what set this guy off....maybe my NRA Life sticker on the back window!
In any case, he picked the wrong two cars to screw with!

Besides us all packing, the cars were loaded with:
- 2 AR 15's
- 4 1911's in varying models
- 2 .40's
- 2 .380's
- 3 .22's (handguns)

Seems like I should have been there for the WalMart parking lot episode discussed earlier!

Found this news item in the Richmond newspaper:

Things go wrong for would-be Good Samaritan

May 28, 2013 Richmond, VA. AP Wire Services

Richmond police records show that local resident Bubba Jones claimed that he was “assaulted” by two large trucks, bristling with guns, while trying to warn one of them about a problem.

According to Jones, “Man, I ‘as just out cruisin’ to Micky Dee’s in my ’86 Corolla, mindin’ my own bidness. These two big trucks drived by me and the pickup had a big screw stickin’ out of an inner tire on the rear end. I tried to he’p- drove past ‘em, shoutin’ “Truck! You gotta f'at”, wavin’ my hand with one finger up to show’em which tire had the screw. These folks just went off on me, honkin’ their horns and crowdin’ me on the road. And, man, them trucks was loaded with guns- GUNS!!! It was scary. ” The interview with Mr. Jones was complicated by his speech impediments, as he cannot make an “l” sound(making “flat” sound like “fat” and substitutes the “f” sound for the “tr” sound, making “tract” sound like “fact”. (Ed. Note- we make every attempt to quote people accurately, but our editorial policy forbids printing the word “truck” the way Mr. Jones pronounces it)

Jones added “I thoughts they understood me, cause they started shoutin’ somethin’ back that sounded how I would say “f'at truck” (again, we cannot print the way Mr. Jones pronounced one of those words). But, they sho’ didn’ act as if they was grateful fo’ ma he’p. I was grateful to get outta there in one piece. Some days it jus' don' pay to be a nice guy!”

Richmond police have issued a BOLO for two trucks loaded with guns, chasing down ricers and blaring their horns. Police Chief Frank Jefferson admits "It will be a tough search, as just about everybody 'round here drives trucks, has guns and honks their horns, but we’ll keep looking.”

Been stockpiling wherever possible.
I was going to pull into WallyWorld and check their inventory, but couldn't find a parking spot!

Traffic was bumper to bumper. Speed limit is 45 and no one could do more than 35 because of traffic lights and heavy traffic. Wasn't like anyone was going to break. Land speed record.

Not sure I follow your logic, but I highly doubt I'm going to get my ass whipped.

A few years ago I stopped, waved and let a person make a left in front of me from
The opposite direction. As she was turning she gave me the finger.

Gave up on our fellow citizens at that point.

FWIW, you can't be seen as escalating or adding to the mayhem. VERY Bad ju-ju if you do have to do something...

Lets do the what ifs -
What if you did really cut him off or run him off the road but didn't notice? Could have been 5 miles down the road that this happened?
What if he was packing as well? What if he had his gun out, ready to shoot. What if it was a semi?
What if your BIL pushed him closer to the edge?
What if your horn pushed him over the edge?
What if he shot first - and it was your wife he hit?

All of your other weapons were locked in a case, ammo removed and not within arms reach - correct? So that list of 10+ weapons means zip. And the size of your trucks means squat... The only guns that matter are the ones on your person, and when do you pull them? After he pulls his?

Why do the what if list? Because you seem to feel safe in a bigger truck with a bunch of guns packed away. You also make a ton of bad assumptions. The reality is - this guy was nuts and in a rage. If he decided to start shooting, buy the time you got your guns out - the wife unit may be dead - you may be dead - and your BIL may be shooting at the guy that just killed his loved ones.

Do you think that was the best way to handle the situation? Guns or no guns? Bigger truck or not? I think thats what we need to talk about when we discuss carrying concealed... how to properly handle situations.
