Default Home surveillance DVR needed..

I have a system on my house but the DVR was a cheapo that I bought and it's taking a dump.

Anyone know of a good quality but simple to use DVR? I need an 8 channel, I like the mouse navigation. And I need easy to read instructions. Mine has horrible instructions that looks like it was written by a Chinese guy that barely speaks English. LOL. I want good easy to read English instructions. LOL.

My cameras are hardwired but B/W so I might upgrade them to color. But not right away, the B/W cameras pretty crisp.

So far, so good. Can be setup for remote view from your smart phone. Decent picture quality.

Hey Chris... I bought a couple of the Samsung systems on sale at Costco for the office 2 or 3 years ago... It's A 1tb DVR 16 channels with 8 cameras included each package (4 indoor dome style and 4 outdoor bullet style)
The price range is 925 to 975, but I really liked it...
I do not know in your case since you have the wires already in place, but mine was a brand new install and the thing that I liked the most is that you run only one Cat-5 per camera in this systems and signal AND power travel in the same cable.
I was really pleased by the features included and the quality over all of the DVR.
Customer service by Samsung in terrible but I didn't need them that much.
Performance in night vision or reduced light condition was not the best thing I've seen in my life, but it is hard to ask for much more considering what you are paying for....
I upgraded the HD on each to 2 tb, and currently have 12 cameras on each DVR which allows me to record approximately 2 weeks 24x7 on motion detection....
Again my setting (small offices space indoor) is much different than yours (open spaces exterior), so I do not exactly know how this particular equipment would work on you case, but I was happy with mine...
It seems that Costco doesn't carry Samsung security systems anymore so here is the link of the one I got..

David, the camera inputs are RCA but my DVR is BNC so I have the little adapters.

Emanuel, I'm not looking to drop a grand. I just want a decent DVR for now. I think I can get something for around 300 bucks.

That's a nice package deal. More than I need as I only need the DVR. I'm sure they sell the DVR alone.

Yep, you can buy just the dvr separately. 4,8, or 16 channel
