I spend some time on business there and NO is closing in on Chicago homicide rate (according to the locals).

A democrat.

Now that you mention it, so were all the mayors all the way back to 1936.

My brother inlaw is a civil engineer (bridges and dam expert so loads of FEMA money waiting) and his work has an office in New Orleans says is pretty rough. After Katrina they used armed security (heavily armed) to assess the damage and put in bids to start the rebuild. My father who travels to Juarez Mexico for work (8 murders a day, they use the army to get around when hes down there) was in NO 2 years ago, says Juarez is safer than New Orleans.
