Default small luxury SUV's

My wife's run of Honda Pilots (2003, 2006, 2009 & 2011 - all great vehicles) is coming to an end in June after just about 11 years. With both kids in high school, we no longer need an 8 passenger SUV, and she would like something smaller.
We/she has decided she'd like a small awd cross-over. We have narrowed it down to the luxury class because the Honda CRV, Mazda CX5 and Ford Escape all have pretty week 4-cylinder engines and lack some of the luxury items she is used to.
So the list of contenders is: Acura RDX, BMW X3, Infinity EX37 and Mercedes GLK 350 (by the way I hate foreign cars, but there isn't a US made vehicle in that class). They are all in the $35-40,000 price range, so cost isn't much of an issue.
Right now, my wife is partial to the Acura, because the last 6 Honda's she has had (4 Pilots + 2 V6 Accords) have been bulletproof and she likes the way Honda's drive. I have driven a friends X3 and it is okay - nothing spectacular; no experience with either the EX37 (have put about 400 miles on a Hertz FX37, and it was a nice vehicle); and zero experience with the GLK.
It will most likely be a 3 year lease, 15,000 miles a year, so not really worried about long term cost of ownership.
Good or bad experiences with any of those on the list?

If it is a lease, Range Rover Evoque is a nice little SUV.

My wife has the GLK350, it's nice. It has all of the bells and whistles you'd expect from MB, so that's a big plus. Maintenance due is only once a year, albeit $350-700 each time. My wife loves hers. No one can ride behind me when I'm driving it (it's a bit cramped in the backseat) It has a V6 so it drives well and zips in and out of traffic with no problems.

Check out the Subaru Forester. It consistently gets high ratings by Consumers Reports.

My wife loves hers.

You may want to look at the toyota highlander as well. After driving a honda pilot for 5 years I was pretty intent on buying another one. The newer ones are much larger and I did not need the additional size. The highlander seemed a lot more comfortable size and a little smaller with better handling. I ended up buying one 4 months ago and have been extremely satisfied.

If you like Honda -- do the Acura.

I'm done with Honda after my wife's Element.

The key word in the OP's post was "Luxury".

I missed that point as did most posting to this thread.

To me luxury means Lexus, Acura, Infinity, Porche, BMW and Cadillac.

Here is a short list of some recommended on the net:

Just got a 2013 SRX AWD (new interior for 2013 I think). Nicer than our neighbors RX350 that I've been in. Decent lease rates.

Surprised no one has mentioned the Lexus GX 460/470. It's a little bigger than some mentioned, but a nice vehicle.

Go with the Lexus RX350. BMW X5 is junk. I have owned both for the wife and she now drives a Chevrolet Tahoe now due to children, but we are thinking about going back to the Lexus because she liked it so much. Most of the overseas luxury SUV's are AWD. Unless you have a need for this, I would stay away from it due to poor mileage.
